DTDC (and every air-network courier) prohibits these. Items most often misjudged on the Udaipur → Aizawl lane:

Common Udaipur → Aizawl misjudgements
- Fermented bamboo-shoot pickle, raw chillies in oil (return-trip) — perishable plus olfactory; will not ship in either direction.
- Local rice-beer (zu) or any liquor — alcohol is banned across DTDC, including return-trip gifting.
- Pickle and ghee — semi-liquid; do not pack with regular parcels.
- Attar bottles from the old city — these are oils. They cannot ship.

Is 7–8 days surface really realistic, or is that padded?
It’s realistic. The parcel goes Udaipur → Mumbai → Kolkata → Silchar → Aizawl, and the Silchar-to-Aizawl leg alone is a full day on NH306 — a single hill road that becomes slow or briefly impassable in monsoon. Express via air to Kolkata cuts the trunk time, bringing total transit to 4–5 days. We will not promise faster than that on this lane and you should distrust anyone who does.
Do you deliver outside Aizawl city — Lunglei, Champhai, Serchhip?
DTDC last-mile is reliable in Aizawl city and the three or four district headquarters with regular spoke vans (Lunglei, Champhai, Serchhip, Kolasib). Beyond those, delivery becomes irregular and adds 2–4 days, sometimes more in monsoon. Tell us the exact PIN and the village; we will tell you honestly whether it is a normal lane or a special-handling one.
Does the Inner Line Permit (ILP) affect what I can send?
No. The ILP applies to non-resident travellers entering Mizoram, not to inbound courier deliveries. As long as the receiver is a Mizoram resident at a Mizoram address (with a normal ID), DTDC will deliver. ILP processing for visiting family is a separate matter we do not handle.
