Common Sikar → Vizag misjudgements
- Loose mithai with ghee or syrup — dry mithai (besan ladoo, dry barfi) is fine; kalakand, rasgulla and syrup-based sweets are not. The Shekhawati care-kit pattern needs sealed dry-pack only.
- Industrial chemicals / aerosols from Visakha Steel supply lists — solvents, degreasers, even small sample bottles. Hard ban.
- Fish and seafood — perishable, and a 4-day lane will spoil it. We won't accept it.
- Naval gear with restricted batteries — anything with a lithium cell above 100 Wh is grounded on the air leg.

Honest answer — how long does this actually take?
Surface is 4 working days the vast majority of the time, 5 if the Mumbai trunk is congested. Express is 2–3 working days — 2 if we book before the morning Sikar handover, 3 if it slips. We don't do same-week express on a freshly booked surface parcel and we won't pretend otherwise. If you need it in 2 days, book express by morning.
Can you deliver to naval addresses and cantonment areas in Vizag?
Yes. DTDC has standing access to the Vizag cantonment, dockyard residential pockets and Eastern Naval Command quarters. We need the recipient's service number or quarter number, plus the gate / area name on the AWB. Recipients usually need to show ID at the gate to collect — sealed-cover originals (offer letters, NOCs) are a routine pattern on this lane, especially for the Shekhawati Mayo-alumni officer-family flows. Same applies to the Sainik / Naval School parents' deliveries.
What's the standard packing pattern for GITAM / Andhra Univ care-kits?
Three boxes is normal: one for clothes/winter wear, one for books and stationery, and a smaller third for kitchen kits (sealed dal, atta, masalas, dry mithai — no oils). All three are tied together as one consignment under a single AWB to keep billing clean. We weigh on a luggage scale at your home in Sikar (or anywhere in the Shekhawati belt), label every box with the student's hostel block and room number, and you get one consolidated charge.
