~115 km surface to the Jaipur airport feeder and into the DTDC International facility (~+0.5 day vs Udaipur direct). Air movement via Mumbai or Delhi, then transit through Australia or Southeast Asia to AKL Auckland or WLG Wellington — direct flights are limited.
NZ customs (MPI).
Clearance at Auckland gateway. New Zealand’s MPI biosecurity is among the strictest worldwide — even tighter than Australia in some categories. Paperwork-clean, biosecurity-safe parcels still take 48–96 hours to clear on average.

Last-mile via NZ Post or the local courier partner. POD on WhatsApp the same day.

A 2 kg parcel — say a Shekhawati-haveli care kit (folded cotton clothing plus signed family papers), ~30 × 25 × 15 cm:

What you’ll need at pickup.
MPI biosecurity is the strictest customs operation we deal with. For Sikar → NZ, we recommend textile-only shipments and walk you through documentation before pickup so the parcel doesn’t get held.
KYC of the sender
One photo ID for the person whose name is on the AWB — Aadhaar, passport or driving licence. We photograph it at pickup; not stored beyond DTDC’s record.
Commercial invoice
For commercial goods, a printed invoice listing items, quantity and value. For gifts (Shekhawati-Marwari family care kits), a written declaration. Item-level descriptions matter — MPI reads them carefully.
Prescription (medicines)
Pharmac rules — only the quantity prescribed, in the original sealed strip, with a copy of the prescription and doctor’s registration. No controlled substances, no liquids, no injectables.
What New Zealand doesn’t let in.
MPI (Ministry for Primary Industries) is among the strictest biosecurity regimes worldwide — small island ecosystem, fewer pest defences than continental countries. These are real MPI rules. Items shipped against them are seized, destroyed, and the consignee pays a disposal fee.
Don’t even try
- All food — even commercially sealed packs. MPI’s default position is to seize.
- Wooden items, untreated — picture frames, carved boxes, decor.
- Bamboo handicrafts — treated as plant material.
- Leather goods — CITES plus biosecurity rules.
- Seeds, dried plants, herbs, agarbatti — agarbatti sticks are treated as plant-derived material and routinely seized.
- Dairy and meat products — including dried, sealed, processed.
- Fresh produce, dried flowers, decorations with botanical content — Diwali decoration sets with petals or pressed flowers are blocked.
- Beeswax, pollen, honey-related items — protect NZ’s native bee stock.
- Aerosols, lithium batteries above 100 Wh, all liquids — universal courier rules.
Allowed with care
- Textiles and cotton clothing — declare fabric type and value. Best parcel content for NZ.
- Books and printed material — straightforward; declare title and value.
- Prescription tablets — sealed strip, prescription attached, only the quantity prescribed (Pharmac rules).
- Non-precious jewellery and small electronics — declare make, model, value.
- Personal documents — passports, originals, signed papers.

Shekhawati-Marwari NRI-family care kits (textile-only)
The NZ Marwari diaspora is small, but Shekhawati-rooted Marwari families with NZ connections do exist (Auckland and Wellington) and ship periodically. For NZ-bound care kits we go textile-only for MPI compliance — sarees, cotton clothing, festival outfits, signed family documents. No food, no agarbatti, no dried-flower content.
Wedding & festival outfits
Sarees, lehengas, sherwanis, dupattas, non-precious jewellery boxes. Clean fabric only — no embedded organic decoration. Shipped ahead of weddings to NZ-Indian families in Auckland and Wellington.
Personal documents
Passport originals, transcripts, signed contracts, certified copies. Always express; lane runs longer so book early.
Marwari business documents
Shekhawati-Marwari business families with NZ connections exchange contracts, GST forms, attested letters. Always express, tracked.
Returning-traveller baggage from heritage tours
NZ heritage-tourists who visit the painted havelis at Mandawa, Nawalgarh, Fatehpur, Bissau and Dundlod and shop the haveli-hotel boutiques — textiles and miniature paintings are the safe categories for MPI. Picked up from the haveli-hotel, packed (zero organic material — MPI scrutinises tourist baggage closely), shipped before they fly out.

Hand-block printed cotton, cushion covers — declare ALL fabric details on the invoice. Small NZ buyers and importers.

Why is MPI even stricter than Australia?
New Zealand is a smaller, more isolated island ecosystem with fewer natural pest defences than even Australia. A single moth species or fungal spore arriving via a wooden frame or a packet of dried herbs can do real damage to native flora and pasture. MPI's response is to default to seizure on anything ambiguous — agarbatti sticks (plant material), beeswax (could carry foulbrood), bamboo decor, dried flowers in a Diwali decoration set. The rule of thumb for NZ shipments: if it grew, was made from something that grew, or was made by an insect — assume it's blocked.
I'm an NZ heritage-tourist returning from a Shekhawati frescoes trip — what can I ship home?
Textiles, brass items, miniature paintings on paper, books, jewellery (non-precious) — all clear MPI cleanly. What gets held: anything mixed with organic material — pressed flowers in books, untreated wooden frames, dried herbs in brass boxes, agarbatti sticks. We pack at the haveli-hotel with explicit MPI-screening: every item is checked for organic content before it's sealed. Many NZ academics, photographers and heritage-society members ship this way every year.
Honestly — how long does the parcel really take from Sikar?
8–12 working days for express, 13–19 for economy. Be straight with yourself about this: it's longer than Australia (7–11 days) because direct flights from India to NZ are limited and routing typically transits Sydney, Melbourne, Singapore or Hong Kong. Sikar also adds ~0.5 day of Jaipur-feeder time vs a direct Udaipur shipment. The MPI clearance step in Auckland adds another 24–96 hours. We'd rather you book a wedding parcel two weeks early and have it land calmly than rush and miss the date.
