Kerala-diaspora gateway, gem-trade B2B, CUSAT student kits, handicraft B2B.
Kerala diaspora gateway
Kochi is the staging point for Gulf-resident Malayali families. Kerala-Indian Marwari families in Jaipur ship clothes, books and dry items to a Kochi household, which then forwards onward to the family relative heading to the Gulf via Kochi airport. The Marwari-Kochi-Gulf-relative routing is one of the most consistent lane patterns we see.
Gem-trade non-precious
Johari Bazaar (non-precious) trade samples — synthetic stones, costume settings, fashion-jewellery components — to Kochi-Marwari merchants. Recurring weekly slot is common; precious metal and certified gemstone shipments are not handled on this courier lane.
CUSAT student care-kits
Students at Cochin University / CUSAT (Cochin University of Science and Technology). Heavy in August–September: books, kitchenware, winter shawls, woollens for monsoon evenings — things parents send from home.
B2B handicraft
Recurring shipments to Marine Drive and MG Road retailers — block-print stoles, Jaipur miniatures, Kundan/Meenakari/Polki costume jewellery, brass items. Weekly or fortnightly slot, single rate sheet.
Wedding outfits to Kerala-Marwari
Block-print Sanganer/Bagru lehengas, Kundan/Meenakari/Polki costume sets and other Pink-City wedding outfits to Kerala-Marwari families. Single GST invoice across the consolidated dispatch. Decor returns and gift consolidation come back the same way.
Returning-traveller baggage
Kerala-tourist Pink-City visitors with Kochi home addresses ship purchases home — Hathipole textiles, miniatures, mojaris, brass — packed at hotel and dispatched before they fly. Tourist-shipment volumes spike Oct-Mar.
A short, real list.
DTDC (and every air-network courier) prohibits these. Items most often misjudged on the Jaipur → Kochi lane:
Banned outright
- Liquids of any kind — perfumes, attars, oils, gels, hand sanitiser
- Aerosols and pressurised cans
- Cosmetics, nail polish, fragrance samples
- Flammable solids and matches
- Currency notes and gold/silver bullion
- Lithium batteries above 100 Wh on the air leg
Common Jaipur → Kochi misjudgements
- Precious gemstones / certified diamonds — even Johari-Bazaar trade samples must be non-precious only on this courier lane.
- Coconut oil, camphor oil, spice oils — these are all oils, all banned. The single most common misjudgement on this Kerala lane.
- Liquid pickle, fish, fresh seafood — perishable and liquid. Cannot move on a 4–5 day lane.
- Arrack and any liquor — alcohol cannot ship via courier on any DTDC lane.
AWB on WhatsApp. Track on dtdc.in. POD when it lands.

Specific to Jaipur → Kochi.
What's the realistic transit time? I've heard “2 days” from other operators.
Don't believe it on a 2,150 km lane. Honest range: 4–5 working days on surface, sometimes 6 if the Mumbai trunk is congested. On express (air leg via Bangalore), 2–3 working days only if we book before the day's air cut-off in Jaipur. We will not promise same-week express on a freshly booked surface parcel — the lanes don't physically connect. The Bangalore-Kochi air leg is what actually saves the days; surface stays on trunk the whole way.
If I need it there fast, is the air leg worth it?
For time-sensitive paperwork, weddings or family-relative-flying-out scenarios — yes, express is the only sane choice on this lane. Surface 4–5 days is too slow for a wedding outfit or a Gulf-relative-departure deadline. Express via Bangalore air leg lands at 2–3 days. Cost is roughly 50% more per kg but the time you buy is real. Surface bookings stay on the trunk the whole way; don't expect a “free upgrade.”
How does the Kerala-diaspora-gateway parcel routing work? I want to send to my relative in Kochi who's flying to Dubai.
This is one of the most common patterns on the lane — Marwari-Jaipur-to-Kerala-Marwari-Kochi routing where the parcel ends up onward to a Gulf-bound relative via Kochi airport. We deliver to the Kochi household address; the family relative collects and carries onward as personal baggage to the Gulf. Pack everything as dry items only (no oils, no liquids), label clearly with the Kochi recipient's name, and time it 3–4 days before the relative's departure date so it lands with buffer. We confirm the date at booking so you know exactly when it'll arrive.
