What you’ll need at pickup.
Customs paperwork is the most common reason an international parcel stalls. For Bikaner senders shipping bhujia or papad to the US, ingredient declarations matter as much as KYC — we’ll walk you through both.
KYC of the sender
One photo ID for the person whose name is on the AWB — Aadhaar, passport or driving licence. We photograph it at pickup; not stored beyond DTDC’s record.
Commercial invoice with HS codes
For B2B parcels — including bhujia/papad export consignments — a printed commercial invoice listing items, quantity, value and HS codes. The FDA and CBP scrutinise this. For personal gifts, a written declaration suffices but value still must be honestly stated.
Prescription (medicines)
For tablets going to a student or family member: a copy of the prescription with doctor’s registration number. The FDA controlled-substance list is strict — no injectables, no liquids, no scheduled drugs.
What the United States doesn’t let in.
These are real CBP, FDA and USDA rules — not our caution. Items shipped against them are seized, destroyed, or returned at the consignee’s cost. For Bikaner’s famous bhujia/papad export trade, the realistic position is: only sealed factory-packed commercially-labelled items with full ingredient lists; loose mixtures and home-packed bhujia cannot ship.
Don’t even try
- All dairy products — paneer, ghee, khoya-based mithai, milk powder. FDA seizes even sealed factory packs.
- All meat products — including dried, sealed and packaged. USDA rules are absolute.
- Loose / home-packed bhujia, papad, namkeen — without commercial labelling, ingredient list and tamper-evident packaging, FDA holds for inspection or seizes.
- Fresh fruit, vegetables, seeds, untreated plants — USDA APHIS biosecurity flags these on entry.
- Hemp and CBD products — federal courier policy is strict regardless of state law at destination.
- Cuban cigars and tobacco from sanctioned origins — embargo rules.
- Live animals, insects, reptiles — never on a courier.
- Aerosols, lithium batteries above 100 Wh, all liquids — universal courier rules.

- Sealed commercially-packaged Bikaneri bhujia / papad — factory-sealed, full printed ingredient list, batch number. Even then, FDA may hold a sample for inspection. Send small B2B sample lots, not bulk.
- Textiles and handicrafts — block-print fabric, cotton clothing, woollen items from Bikaner’s cottage industry. Declare a fair value.
- Books and printed material — straightforward; declare title and value.
- Prescription tablets — sealed strip, original prescription attached, no controlled substances or liquids.

Can I ship Bikaneri bhujia and papad to the US for my distributor?
Yes, with realistic expectations. The FDA accepts commercially packaged sealed dry foods with a full printed ingredient list, batch number and tamper-evident seal — so factory-packed Bikaneri bhujia and papad from registered exporters can ship. What cannot ship: loose home-packed mixtures, anything sold by weight without a sealed pouch, and anything containing dairy or meat ingredients. Even with clean paperwork, CBP at JFK sometimes opens a sample for FDA inspection — declare honestly, send small B2B sample lots first, and the supply chain becomes predictable.
Why does Bikaner add a day vs Udaipur or Jaipur on US lanes?
Bikaner has no airport. The parcel is road-fed ~330 km to Jaipur or ~430 km to Delhi the same evening of pickup, joins the DTDC International airlift there, and clears CBP at the US gateway. Net effect: about one extra day vs an Udaipur or Jaipur direct booking. We pre-book the road feeder so you don’t lose a day at the Bikaner end.
Which US gateway is fastest for my recipient?
It depends where they live. JFK (New York) is the fastest gateway for the Northeast — NY, NJ, PA, MA, CT typically deliver in 7–8 working days from Bikaner. LAX serves California in similar time. ORD (Chicago) handles IL, WI, IN and the Midwest. Newark and SFO are alternates. The slower last-mile is to small towns served only by USPS rural routes — add 1–2 days.
