Road feeder & DTDC handover.
Bikaner has no airport, so the parcel is road-fed ~330 km to Jaipur or ~430 km to Delhi the same evening, then into the DTDC International facility. Air movement transits Australia or Southeast Asia to AKL Auckland or WLG Wellington — direct flights are limited.
NZ customs (MPI).
Clearance at Auckland gateway. New Zealand’s MPI biosecurity is among the strictest worldwide — even tighter than Australia in some categories. Paperwork-clean, biosecurity-safe parcels still take 48–96 hours to clear on average.
Doorstep delivery.
Last-mile via NZ Post or the local courier partner. POD on WhatsApp the same day.

Final price depends on actual or volumetric weight (whichever is greater) plus the international fuel surcharge in force on your booking date. GST is extra. Rates run higher than Australia because routing is longer; Bikaner adds another day for the road feeder.

A 2 kg parcel — say a stack of textbooks plus folded cotton clothing, ~30 × 25 × 15 cm:

What you’ll need at pickup.
MPI biosecurity is the strictest customs operation we deal with. We’ll walk you through documentation before pickup so the parcel doesn’t get held — or worse, destroyed.
KYC of the sender
One photo ID for the person whose name is on the AWB — Aadhaar, passport or driving licence. We photograph it at pickup; not stored beyond DTDC’s record.
Commercial invoice
For commercial goods, a printed invoice listing items, quantity and value. For gifts, a written declaration. Item-level descriptions matter — MPI reads them carefully.
Prescription (medicines)
Pharmac rules — only the quantity prescribed, in the original sealed strip, with a copy of the prescription and doctor’s registration. No controlled substances, no liquids, no injectables.
What New Zealand doesn’t let in.
MPI (Ministry for Primary Industries) is among the strictest biosecurity regimes worldwide — small island ecosystem, fewer pest defences than continental countries. These are real MPI rules. For Bikaner senders this means: zero food — no bhujia, no papad, no namkeen, regardless of packaging. Textile-only Diwali. Items shipped against MPI rules are seized, destroyed, and the consignee pays a disposal fee.
Don’t even try
- All food — including Bikaneri bhujia and papad — even commercially sealed factory packs. MPI’s default position is to seize. The Bikaner-NZ food lane is effectively closed.
- Wooden items, untreated — picture frames, carved boxes, decor.
- Bamboo handicrafts — treated as plant material.
- Leather goods — CITES plus biosecurity rules.
- Seeds, dried plants, herbs, agarbatti — agarbatti sticks are treated as plant-derived material and routinely seized.
- Dairy and meat products — including dried, sealed, processed.
- Fresh produce, dried flowers, decorations with botanical content — Diwali decoration sets with petals or pressed flowers are blocked.
- Beeswax, pollen, honey-related items — protect NZ’s native bee stock.
- Aerosols, lithium batteries above 100 Wh, all liquids — universal courier rules.
Allowed with care
- Textiles and cotton clothing — Bikaner’s woollens and block-print cotton. Declare fabric type and value. Best parcel content for NZ.
- Books and printed material — straightforward; declare title and value.
- Prescription tablets — sealed strip, prescription attached, only the quantity prescribed (Pharmac rules).
- Non-precious jewellery and small electronics — declare make, model, value.
- Personal documents — passports, originals, signed papers.
Textiles, documents, returning baggage — no food.

Signed contracts, originals, certified copies for the small NZ-resident Bikaner-origin Marwari community in Auckland and Wellington. Always express.
Wedding & festival outfits
Sarees, lehengas, sherwanis, dupattas, non-precious jewellery boxes. Shipped ahead of weddings to NZ-Indian families.
Diwali parcels (textile / electronic only)
Cotton clothing, brass diyas, electronic gifts, jewellery (non-precious). No agarbatti, no food, no botanical content. The Bikaner-NZ Diwali lane is textile-only — no bhujia, no papad.

Can I send Bikaneri bhujia or papad to my relatives in Auckland?
Honestly — no. MPI’s default position on imported food is seizure, and that applies even to commercially-sealed factory-packed Bikaneri bhujia and papad with full ingredient lists. The NZ-Australia food gap is real: Australia’s DAFF will at least examine sealed registered-exporter lots; MPI mostly won’t. The Bikaner-NZ food lane is effectively closed. For Diwali and family gifts: send textiles, woollens from Bikaner’s cottage industry, brass diyas, electronics, books, jewellery. They land cleanly.
Why is MPI even stricter than Australia?
New Zealand is a smaller, more isolated island ecosystem with fewer natural pest defences than even Australia. A single moth species or fungal spore arriving via a wooden frame or a packet of dried herbs can do real damage to native flora and pasture. MPI’s response is to default to seizure on anything ambiguous — agarbatti sticks (plant material), beeswax (could carry foulbrood), bamboo decor, dried flowers in a Diwali decoration set. The rule of thumb for NZ shipments: if it grew, was made from something that grew, or was made by an insect — assume it’s blocked.
Honestly — how long does the parcel really take from Bikaner?
9–13 working days for express, 13–19 for economy. Be straight with yourself about this: it’s longer than Australia (8–11 days) because direct flights from India to NZ are limited and routing typically transits Sydney, Melbourne, Singapore or Hong Kong — and Bikaner adds another day for the road feeder to Jaipur or Delhi. The MPI clearance step in Auckland adds another 24–96 hours. We don’t advertise faster numbers to win the booking; we’d rather you book a wedding parcel two weeks early and have it land calmly than rush and miss the date.
