It is the longest in-state leg of any Kerala lane we run, and it is the reason a disruption anywhere in Kerala shows up on this route first. Express takes the air leg out of Kempegowda instead.

Bengaluru’s Malayali population is enormous and the southern districts are well represented in it. The traffic on this route is diaspora traffic — Onam parcels in August and September, Vishu in April, gifts and clothes for weddings, and the ordinary between-times business of a family split across two states. It is worth booking a week ahead in the Onam fortnight; the whole city ships in the same ten days.
Household relocation part-loads
People taking a posting back to Kerala after years in Bengaluru rarely move a full container. They move the awkward third of it — books, a study table lamp, kitchen equipment, a monitor, framed pictures. Bulk surface at 35 kg and above is the right service for this, and it consistently beats airline excess baggage on the Bengaluru–Thiruvananthapuram sector.

- Prescription medicines and medical samples — the defining refusal on this lane, because so much of the traffic is medical. Blood, tissue, swabs, pathology samples and any biological specimen are refused outright, full stop. Sealed pharmaceutical strips in original packaging with a legible prescription and an invoice are sometimes accepted on surface — ask us before you pack, never assume, and never send anything refrigerated.
- Coconut oil and Ayurvedic thailams — very heavy traffic on the Kerala lanes and very consistently refused. Sealed factory bottles are still liquid. Pressure changes and long surface legs make oil seep, and one leaking bottle contaminates a whole bag.
- Original certificates without a backup — not prohibited, but worth saying plainly: degree certificates, mark lists and property originals travel on this lane constantly toward government offices, and courier liability on a lost document is nominal, not the cost of replacing it. Send scans first, ask about declared-value cover, and use express with signature proof.
- Loose lithium cells, power banks and vape devices — spare cells and loose power banks are refused; a battery installed inside a laptop is accepted on surface. Vapes and e-cigarettes are a separate prohibition and are not carried at all.
- Wet food — sambar paste, wet chutney, fresh curry leaves — the dry powders are fine, the wet forms are not, and fresh produce turns during a two-to-three-day surface leg.

For Thiruvananthapuram, two details save most of the trouble: put the recipient’s mobile on the AWB, and if the address is a government office, write the department and room or section rather than just the building — Secretariat and directorate addresses have their own tapal and receiving sections, and a parcel addressed only to a person’s name can sit in a mail room for days. Technopark addresses need the company name and phase number for the same reason.

Why is the transit the same as Kochi when Thiruvananthapuram is 170 km further?
Because transit on this network is set by the line-haul schedule and the hub structure, not by odometer readings. Both cities sit in the 401–1,050 km band, both are served off the same Kerala trunk movement out of Bengaluru, and the extra distance is covered inside the same overnight in-state leg down NH66. What is genuinely different is exposure to disruption: your parcel travels the whole length of Kerala, so a blocked ghat road or a flooded stretch anywhere in the state can touch this lane when it would not touch a Thrissur or Kozhikode consignment. In a normal week you will see 2–3 working days on surface. In late June and July, plan for the upper end.
Do you deliver inside Technopark, and how should I address it?
Yes, Kazhakkoottam and the Technopark corridor are on the daily delivery run off the Thiruvananthapuram hub. Address it with the company name first, then the phase and building, then the recipient’s name and mobile — in that order. Campus deliveries in Technopark go through a security and reception layer rather than straight to a desk, so a carton labelled only with a person’s name is the one that goes missing internally for a week.
