Send a parcel from Bangalore to Raipur. We pick up free.
About 1,240 kilometres, and it is two legs rather than one — NH44 north to Nagpur, then east on NH53 through Bhandara, Rajnandgaon and Durg into Chhattisgarh. Surface takes 3–4 working days, air express 2–3. Free pickup anywhere in Bengaluru at 5 kg and above, booked at any hour.
Pickup across Bengaluru, NH44 to Nagpur, east on NH53, delivery across the 492xxx belt.
Pickup, Bengaluru.
Sixty to ninety minutes across the city, with a two-hour window on the far western and southern edges. Peenya is the single busiest collection point on this lane — it is Bengaluru's machine-tool and industrial-supply concentration and it feeds the steel and mining belt at the other end — and beyond that we run Vijayanagar, Kengeri, Banashankari and Uttarahalli. The rider weighs and seals the consignment at your address.
Bengaluru sortation.
Same-evening handover into DTDC's Bengaluru operation. Because this is a two-leg movement rather than a single trunk run, booking earlier in the day matters more here than it does on a shorter lane — miss the evening departure and you are not losing a few hours, you are losing a connection at the far end.
NH44, then east on NH53.
North through Hyderabad and Adilabad to Nagpur, then the eastward turn on NH53 through Bhandara, Rajnandgaon and Durg into Raipur. That handover at the centre of the country is the whole reason Raipur is quoted at 3–4 working days while Nagpur, 190 kilometres short of it on the same road, is 2–3. Air express out of Kempegowda skips the second leg and brings it to 2–3.
Raipur delivery.
Last-mile across the 492xxx series — Shankar Nagar, Devendra Nagar, Samta Colony and Telibandha in the newer city, Pandri and the market side, Tatibandh on the western approach. Urla and Siltara, the industrial areas north of the city, run on gate hours. Naya Raipur, or Atal Nagar, is a separate planned township well outside the old city with its own sector layout and its own beat. Bhilai and Durg sit in the neighbouring district's pin series and are a different lane.
POD on WhatsApp.
The proof of delivery — signature image, or a stamped gate-entry slip if it went into a plant or a government office — reaches you on WhatsApp within an hour of handover.
Starting rates, Bangalore → Raipur.
Charged on actual or volumetric weight, whichever is greater, plus the fuel surcharge applying on your booking date. GST is added on top.
- Standard parcel (surface) from ₹120 / kg 3–4 working days. Min billable 5 kg.
- Express parcel (air) from ₹180 / kg 2–3 working days. Door delivery.
- Bulk consignment (35 kg+) from ₹120 / kg Min 35 kg. Surface routing.
Pickup is free everywhere inside Bengaluru on this route once the consignment reaches 5 kg. Divide length by width by height in centimetres by 5000 and you have the volumetric figure; the larger of that and the weighed figure is what you pay on. Most of what moves here is dense — bearings, seals, gearbox parts, instrument bodies — so the weighed figure is usually the billed one, which is unusual and works in your favour. The exceptions are printed packaging, laminated bags and empty sample containers, all of which measure far heavier than they weigh. On a 3–4 day surface run, ask us to double-wall anything with steel in it.
Mining and materials-handling spares, plant instrumentation, rice-trade hardware and tender paperwork.
Mining and materials-handling spares
Raipur is the trading and supply capital for one of the country's biggest coal and mineral belts, and the equipment that keeps that belt moving is bought nationally. Conveyor idlers and rollers, hydraulic seals and cylinder kits, bearings, gearbox and coupling parts, crusher liners, screen mesh and vibration components travel up this lane from Bengaluru's engineering suppliers, a large share of them collected out of Peenya. Heavy, dense, billed on actual weight, and packed to be immobile inside the carton — a loose eight-kilo part will destroy the box before Nagpur.
Plant instrumentation for Urla and Siltara
The sponge-iron, rolling-mill and ferro-alloy units clustered at Urla and Siltara run on measurement, and the measurement kit comes from outside the state. Pyrometers and thermocouples, load cells, flow and pressure transmitters, calibration masters, control-panel internals, lab consumables. These want double protection and a moisture barrier, because they are travelling three or four days into a dusty industrial environment, and they want a purchase-order reference on the outer carton so the stores window accepts them.
Tender and bid documentation
State power, mining and infrastructure tendering is run out of Raipur and the deadlines are absolute. Signed bid documents, technical submissions, qualification credentials, authenticated copies and drawing sets travel on this lane against a closing date and hour. This is an express booking every time, with the department or corporation name on the AWB, a recipient's mobile, and the AWB number confirmed to you in writing on WhatsApp so you hold a dated dispatch record.
Rice-trade equipment, samples and packaging
Chhattisgarh is one of the country's rice bowls and Raipur is where the milling and trading is concentrated. What comes up this lane is not the grain but everything around it: graded sample packets for buyers, printed and laminated woven bags, sealing and stitching machine spares, moisture meters, colour-sorter parts, weighbridge and scale components sourced from Bengaluru. Repeat, weight-based consignments that suit surface routing and a contract rate sheet if you ship weekly.
Consignments for Naya Raipur institutions
The new capital township south-east of the old city holds the state secretariat and a set of national institutions and campuses that did not exist here twenty years ago. Departmental files, admission and examination material, laboratory and teaching equipment, medical and research consumables, and the ordinary paperwork of a government that has moved offices. Address these to the department or the institution's stores, never to "Naya Raipur" alone — see the FAQ, because this is where deliveries on this lane go wrong most often.
Family parcels and relocation cartons
Chhattisgarh sends a large number of engineering, medical and law graduates to Bengaluru, and the traffic back is steady all year. Clothes and gifts before a festival, medicines in original prescription packaging with a prescription copy enclosed, documents that need a signature at home, and the five- or six-carton household consignment when somebody moves back. Past 35 kg you move to the bulk rate at ₹120/kg, which makes a full move cheaper than most people assume for the distance.
A short, real list.
The standing prohibitions are first. The second card is written for the mining, steel and grain-trade consignments that dominate this lane, and every item on it is something we have actually had to turn away:
Banned outright
- Liquids of any kind, sealed containers included
- Aerosols, pressurised cans and gas cylinders
- Cosmetics, nail polish and fragrance samples
- Matches, lighters and flammable solids
- Currency notes, bullion and bearer instruments
- Live plants, seeds, soil and perishable goods
What a mining-and-steel lane attracts
- Detonators, detonating cord, boosters and blasting accessories — a genuine request on a lane feeding a mining belt, and an absolute refusal. These are explosives, they are controlled under licence irrespective of the carrier, and no quantity and no packaging makes them acceptable on a parcel network. They move under an explosives licence with a permitted transporter, full stop.
- Gas cylinders and calibration gas bottles — the regulators, hoses, torches and gauges all travel normally; the bottle never does, whether it is oxygen, acetylene, argon or a small span-gas cylinder for an analyser. Send the equipment and source the gas locally.
- Loose coal, coke and ore fines in paper or cloth bags — sent as trade samples more often than you would expect. Loose dust escapes in transit and contaminates every other parcel in the load, so it is refused at sortation. In a sealed rigid container with the contents declared it can usually be accepted; ask us before you pack it, not after.
- Used hydraulic and gearbox components that have not been drained — a returned cylinder, pump or reducer still holding oil is a leak inside somebody else's consignment. Drain it, cap the ports, bag it, then box it, and put the warranty or return docket number on the outside.
- Aluminium phosphide fumigation tablets from a grain godown — these turn up tucked into rice-trade consignments and they are one of the most dangerous things anyone tries to courier. A toxic fumigant that generates gas on contact with moisture is not shippable in any packaging, and finding one holds the entire load, not just the packet.
AWB on WhatsApp. Track on dtdc.in. POD when it lands.
The AWB number goes to your WhatsApp the moment the consignment is booked into DTDC; check it whenever you like at dtdc.in, and the POD image follows within an hour of delivery. Two things decide whether a Raipur delivery closes first attempt. First, be explicit about which Raipur you mean — the old city and the new capital township are twenty-odd kilometres apart and worked by different riders, so "Raipur" on its own is not enough for an address that is really in a Naya Raipur sector. Second, for Urla and Siltara give us the plot number, the unit's registered name and the gate cut-off time; those estates sit outside the municipal area and stop accepting inward material well before the plant stops running. Deliveries into Bastar, Kanker, Jagdalpur and the southern districts run on their own longer schedules and are quoted separately — tell us the pin and we will give you an honest number rather than a hopeful one.
Specific to Bangalore → Raipur.
Is Bhilai covered when I book a parcel to Raipur?
No, and it is the most common assumption on this lane because the two run into each other on a map and the steel plant is what most people outside the state associate with the region. Bhilai and Durg sit in the neighbouring district and carry their own pin series, so they are delivered off their own beat and quoted as their own lane rather than as part of a Raipur booking. Practically the transit is close — you are looking at roughly the same 3–4 working days on surface — so nothing is lost by booking it correctly, and what you avoid is a consignment that has to be re-rated or pushed out for a second attempt because it was labelled for the wrong hub. The same applies to Bilaspur, Korba and Raigarh: all served, all separate. Give us the full six-digit pin at booking and we will quote the lane you are actually on.
The address says Raipur but it is in Naya Raipur / Atal Nagar. Does that matter?
It matters a great deal, and this is the single biggest cause of failed first attempts here. Naya Raipur, officially Atal Nagar, is a purpose-built capital township more than twenty kilometres from the old city, laid out in numbered sectors, holding the state secretariat, government departments and a set of institutional campuses. It is a completely different delivery beat from Shankar Nagar or Pandri. A carton labelled only "Raipur" that is physically in a Naya Raipur sector gets sorted to the city beat, fails, and comes back for a re-attempt the next working day. Write the sector number, the building or department name and the pin, and add "Naya Raipur / Atal Nagar" in words. For a government office also name the department and floor — a secretariat mailroom will not chase down an envelope addressed to a building.
I have a tender closing date in Raipur. How early do I need to book?
Work backwards and give yourself more room than you think you need, because this lane has a leg change in the middle and a bid that arrives an hour late is simply not a bid. Express is 2–3 working days from Bengaluru, so for a submission closing on a Friday we would want the documents collected on Monday or Tuesday at the latest — not Wednesday evening. Book air, never surface, whatever the weight. Call us instead of using the form so a rider leaves immediately rather than on the next round, and mention the closing date and time explicitly, because we will route it accordingly and tell you honestly if it is too tight. Put the corporation or department name, the tender reference and a recipient's mobile on the AWB, and keep the WhatsApp message with the AWB number in it — that timestamp is the only dispatch evidence you will have if the submission is ever questioned. If the deadline is inside forty-eight hours, say so on the call and we will tell you straight whether it is achievable.
