The south-west belt that feeds this lane hardest — Jayanagar, Basavanagudi, Banashankari, JP Nagar, Vijayanagar and Rajajinagar — is usually the quickest for us to reach, so a mid-morning call often gets collected before lunch. The signature cargo on this route and it moves in both directions — sarees bought at a Bengaluru showroom going to a Mysuru household, and orders placed with Mysuru weavers and KSIC coming back the other way. Silk is light, expensive and hates creasing, so we box it flat in a rigid carton rather than folding it into a poly bag, and we recommend declaring value on anything that cost more than a few thousand rupees. Mysuru weddings are frequently organised from Bengaluru, and the paperwork of one runs on this route for weeks: printed invitations from a Rajajinagar or Chickpet press, blouse pieces, return-gift lots, mandap decor samples. Mysuru has a genuinely large retired population and a lot of them have children working in Bengaluru IT. Monthly parcels of prescription medicines in their original strips with the pharmacy bill, reading glasses, an induction plate, groceries from a specific Bengaluru shop, a replacement phone with the SIM already fitted. Batteries fitted inside a device are fine; loose cells are not, which catches people out.

Common Bengaluru → Mysore misjudgements
- Sandalwood oil and attar — the single most-attempted refusal on this lane, because the destination is the sandalwood city and people assume the government-brand bottle makes a difference. It does not. Mysore Sandal soap, sandalwood powder, sandal-scented talc and dhoop cones all travel fine; the oil is a liquid and will not be accepted in any quantity or packaging.
- Ghee-heavy sweets, including Mysore pak — this is a judgement call rather than a flat ban. A firm, set, factory-sealed box travels; a homemade batch that has ghee pooling at the bottom of the tin will leak into the consignment and gets refused at the counter. If it leaves an oil mark on paper, do not pack it.
- Loose lithium cells and power banks — Bengaluru is a tech city and this comes up on every lane out of it. A battery installed inside a laptop, camera or phone is accepted on surface routing. A spare cell, a bare power bank or a hobby drone pack is not. Say at booking that a device with a battery is going and we will route it correctly.
- Potted plants and saplings from the Lalbagh nurseries — people buy them in Bengaluru and want them at the Mysuru house. Soil, moisture and a living plant fail on all three counts. Dry seeds and bulbs in a sealed packet are a different matter and are fine.
- Silk with no declared value — not a ban, a warning. A saree consignment booked at default liability is covered for a fraction of what the saree cost. Ask for declared-value cover before pickup rather than after something goes missing.

Two things worth knowing on a lane this short: first, the tracking page sometimes shows only a booking scan and then a delivery scan, because there simply are not many intermediate handling points between Bengaluru and Mysuru, and a quiet tracker here is not a stuck parcel. Second, put the recipient’s mobile on the AWB without exception — a great deal of Mysuru delivery is gated layouts in Kuvempunagar, Gokulam and Vijayanagar plus campus and hostel receptions, and a parcel the rider cannot phone in gets marked undelivered and reattempted the next working day.

Is express worth paying for on a 145 km lane?
Honestly, usually not, and we would rather tell you now than sell it to you. Surface on this route is 1–2 working days and express is also 1–2 — the parcel is not crossing the country, it is going down one expressway. Surface starts at ₹120/kg and express at ₹180/kg, so on a 10 kg carton you are paying roughly ₹600 extra before GST for a transit band that does not change. The one case where express earns its money is a late booking against a hard next-morning deadline, where air routing gives us a better shot at the earlier delivery run. For everything else — silk, household goods, gifts, spares — book surface and put the difference towards better packing.
Can I send Mysore sandalwood products and silk sarees?
Silk yes, sandalwood partly. Sarees, blouse pieces and silk yardage are among the most common things on this lane; we box them flat in rigid carton, tissue the zari folds, and strongly suggest declaring value because the standard courier liability cap is nowhere near what a Mysore silk saree costs. On sandalwood, the solid forms all travel — Mysore Sandal soap, sandalwood powder, dhoop, talc, a carved piece. Sandalwood oil does not, in any bottle, of any brand or size, because it is a liquid and liquids are prohibited across the network. That is the one refusal we see most often on this route.
Does a Mysore booking cover Nanjangud, Hunsur, Srirangapatna or T. Narasipura?
They are all served, but they are not the same delivery run and they are not the same pin series. Mysuru city is the 570xxx series and is delivered next-day off the Mysuru branch. Nanjangud, Hunsur, Bannur, T. Narasipura and Periyapatna sit on outlying taluk pin codes worked by branch vehicles on their own schedule, and Srirangapatna and Pandavapura are Mandya district altogether. Any of these can add a working day, and a few of the smaller ones run on alternate days rather than daily. Give us the full pin code when you book and we will tell you the real date instead of quoting you the city one.
