The corridor runs Chitradurga, Hubballi-Dharwad, Belagavi, then Kolhapur and Satara before it drops into Maharashtra’s western belt and on to DTDC’s Mumbai hub. Surface covers it in 2–3 working days. The air leg out of Kempegowda into Mumbai brings that to 1–2.

Volumetric weight is (L × W × H cm) ÷ 5000, and it bites hardest on garment cartons and lighting equipment — big box, little mass. Between June and September the Mumbai monsoon can add a working day at the delivery end, which is worth budgeting for if there is a date attached to the shipment.

This is the corporate-finance lane. Term sheets that need wet signatures, share transfer forms, board resolutions, stamped agreements and due-diligence bundles moving from founders and CFOs in Koramangala, HSR Layout and Indiranagar to funds, law firms and auditors around BKC, Lower Parel and Nariman Point. Garment and textile samples
Bengaluru’s apparel manufacturing is one of the largest concentrations in the country, and Mumbai is where the buying houses, sourcing agents and brand teams sit. Fit samples, fabric swatch cards, trim boards and pre-production sets go up this lane constantly. Sample sets are light but bulky, so measure the carton before you assume you are paying on weight — this is the classic volumetric-weight lane.
Imitation jewellery and accessory stock
Non-precious only, and that qualifier matters. Costume jewellery, kundan-style sets, hair accessories, watches and bags from Bengaluru studios and D2C labels going to Mumbai retailers, stylists and content creators. Ship it with a tax invoice inside and a copy taped to the outside. Gold, silver and stones do not travel on any courier network — see the restricted list.
Camera bodies, lenses and production kit
Mumbai’s shoot calendar pulls equipment in from everywhere, and Bengaluru rental houses and independent DOPs feed it. Bodies, lenses, tripods, gimbals, light stands, cable runs. We double-box glass with foam on all six faces. The batteries are the complication rather than the gear — read the note below before you pack a V-mount or a brick of spares.

Household consignments on the job move
The Bengaluru–Mumbai transfer is common enough to be its own category. Books, kitchen kit, a monitor, bedding, the things that will not fit in an airline allowance. Sending 30–40 kg by surface consistently costs less than paying excess baggage on the sector, and it arrives while you are still house-hunting.

Common Bengaluru → Mumbai misjudgements
- Gold, silver and precious stones in a jewellery consignment — the single most frequent refusal on this lane, because so much of it is jewellery trade. Imitation and costume pieces are accepted with an invoice. Anything precious is uninsurable on a parcel network and is declined at booking, however small the piece.
- V-mount and broadcast battery packs — camera gear moves freely, the power does not. High-capacity packs above 100 Wh are refused on the air leg outright, and loose spares are refused on both legs. Ship the bodies and lenses with us and carry the batteries yourself.
- Attar, perfume oils and fragrance stock — attempted often because Mumbai is where a lot of it is sold. Sealed retail bottles make no difference: it is a flammable liquid and it is refused.
- Fabric-treatment chemicals and spot-cleaning solvents — these sneak into garment sample cartons as a helpful extra. Take them out, or the whole carton gets held at sortation rather than just the bottle.
- Drones and gimbal kits with cells installed — increasingly common from Bengaluru’s hardware scene. The airframe is fine. The installed battery is not, and there is no way to route around it on this lane.

On delivery we forward the POD — signed slip or delivery photograph — within the hour. Two Mumbai-specific things. Put the recipient’s mobile on the AWB, because most residential delivery there is into high-rise societies where the rider is stopped at the lobby desk and has to phone up. And if the address is a commercial building in Fort, Kalbadevi or the Zaveri Bazaar lanes, tell us — those offices shut early on Saturday and stay shut Sunday, and a parcel that arrives into a closed shutter waits for Monday.

Does the Mumbai monsoon actually delay this lane?
Yes, and it is honest to say so rather than pretend otherwise. Between roughly June and September the line-haul itself is rarely the problem — it is the last mile. Low-lying stretches of the eastern and central suburbs flood in a heavy spell, riders are pulled off the road for safety, and a delivery that would have closed on day two closes on day three. Two things help. Book express during those months if the shipment is time-bound, because the air leg skips most of the exposure. And ask us for a waterproof outer wrap over the carton — we do it free on request in monsoon months, and it is the difference between a soaked box and a dry one when the parcel is handed over in the rain.
Can I send jewellery from Bangalore to Mumbai?
Imitation and costume jewellery, yes — it moves on this route every week, and it is one of the reasons the lane exists. Pack it in a rigid box, put a tax invoice inside and tape a copy to the outside, because commercial consignments crossing into Maharashtra are cleaner to move with paperwork visible. Gold, silver, diamonds and precious stones are a different answer: no courier network in India will carry them, ours included. They sit outside the carrier’s liability entirely, so there is no cover if something goes wrong, and the booking is refused at the counter. For genuinely valuable pieces you want a specialist valuables carrier with an insurance contract, not a parcel network.
I need a document in a Lower Parel office by tomorrow. Is that realistic?
Usually yes, on express. Bangalore to Mumbai is 1–2 working days by air, and a document booked before the evening cut-off generally lands the next working day. Call us rather than filling in a form when the clock matters — we will get a rider out, book it on air the same evening, and send you the AWB before the office closes. Two caveats worth hearing. Saturday delivery into commercial buildings is patchy and Sunday is effectively out, so a Friday-evening booking for a Saturday deadline is a gamble. And put a named recipient plus a working mobile number on the AWB: office towers around Lower Parel and BKC route everything through a central mailroom, and an unnamed parcel can sit there for a day before it reaches the right desk.
