Send a parcel from Bangalore to Hubballi-Dharwad. We pick up free.
About 410 kilometres north-west up NH48 through Tumakuru, Chitradurga, Davanagere and Haveri — 2–3 working days on DTDC surface, 1–2 by air express. The one thing to get right before you book is that this is two cities, not one: Hubballi and Dharwad sit about twenty kilometres apart and share a pin series without sharing an address. Free pickup across the whole of Bengaluru from 5 kg up.
Pickup across Bengaluru, up the north-west trunk, delivery into both twin cities.
Pickup, Bengaluru.
A rider reaches you inside sixty to ninety minutes across the core city. The natural catchment for this lane is the western and north-western side — Nagarbhavi, Kengeri, Vijayanagar, Jalahalli and Malleshwaram — where a large share of the city’s north Karnataka families and traders live, and where a rider is already facing the right highway. The Kengeri and Mysore Road end wants a two-hour window in peak traffic. The rider brings tape, bubble wrap and a scale and seals the parcel at your address.
Bengaluru sortation.
Same-evening handover into DTDC’s Bengaluru facility, where north-west Karnataka freight is consolidated for the trunk movement. This consolidation step is the honest reason a 410 km lane inside your own state carries a longer surface band than a 350 km lane into Tamil Nadu, and the FAQ below explains it properly rather than pretending distance is the only variable.
NH48 line-haul.
North-west through Tumakuru, Sira, Chitradurga, Davanagere, Haveri and Ranebennur into the twin cities. This is the trunk corridor that carries everything Bengaluru sends towards Pune, Mumbai and Gujarat, so it is a well-served road with heavy freight volume — but Hubballi-Dharwad is a drop on it rather than the end of it, which shapes the schedule. Express lifts out of Kempegowda instead and delivers in 1–2 working days.
Twin-city delivery.
Last-mile off the local hub across the 580xxx series, and it genuinely is two delivery areas. Hubballi covers the commercial city — the old Hubli bazaar, Keshwapur, Vidyanagar, Gokul Road, Unkal and the Tarihal industrial side. Dharwad covers the administrative and academic city — the university belt, Saptapur, Kalyan Nagar, Malmaddi and the Belur industrial estate. Gadag, Haveri, Ranebennur, Belagavi and Gokak are their own pin series on their own runs.
POD on WhatsApp.
Signature image, stamped inward slip or a photo at the door, forwarded on WhatsApp within the hour. For a market-yard or industrial-estate delivery we ask for the stamped slip specifically, since that is the document a trade consignor will be asked for later.
Starting rates, Bangalore → Hubballi-Dharwad.
Final price depends on actual or volumetric weight, whichever is greater, plus the fuel surcharge in force on your booking date. GST is extra.
- Standard parcel (surface) from ₹120 / kg 2–3 working days. Min billable 5 kg.
- Express parcel (air) from ₹180 / kg 1–2 working days. Door delivery.
- Bulk consignment (35 kg+) from ₹120 / kg Min 35 kg. Surface routing.
Pickup is free across Bengaluru on this lane for parcels 5 kg and above. Volumetric formula: (L × W × H cm) ÷ 5000 — relevant here mainly for the empty packaging, gunny and display material that moves towards the market trade, which is bulky and weighs nothing. Express is one of the few upgrades on our southern network that changes the delivery date rather than the handling queue, taking 2–3 days down to 1–2, so it is a real option when a document or a machine part has a date on it.
Trade stock for the north Karnataka market, campus parcels, railway and workshop spares.
Wholesale replenishment for the north Karnataka trade
Hubballi is the distribution capital of north Karnataka — what lands there is broken down and moves onward to Gadag, Haveri, Bagalkot, Koppal and beyond. That makes this lane a supply line rather than a set of one-off parcels: garments and accessories, footwear, packaging and labels, small electronics and mobile accessories, hardware, stationery and festive stock all go up from the Bengaluru wholesale market on a weekly rhythm. Traders shipping this regularly should be on a bulk rate sheet at 35 kg and above with a standing pickup slot, not booking each consignment cold.
Campus parcels for the Dharwad institutions
Dharwad is the education half of the twin cities — IIT Dharwad, Karnatak University, the long-established engineering, medical and law colleges — and its hostel population is drawn from across the state and the country. Parents and siblings in Bengaluru ship laptops and monitors, project and lab hardware, printed notes and reference books, bedding at the start of a term, winter clothing, and everything travelling back at the end. Put the hostel block, room number and the student’s own mobile on the AWB, and be precise that the address is Dharwad and not Hubballi, because the two run separately.
Railway, workshop and industrial spares
Hubballi is a railway town in the institutional sense — a zonal headquarters with the workshops and offices that go with it — and the industrial estates at Gokul Road, Tarihal and Belur carry engineering, food-processing and light manufacturing units around it. Bearings, seals, gauges, instrument spares, electrical components, a repaired card or motor going back to a customer, calibration items. Small, dense, urgent. Give us a stores contact and their goods-inward window, and drain anything holding oil before it is packed.
Agricultural and market-yard trade material
The APMC market at Hubballi is one of the big agricultural trading floors of the region and the chilli, cotton and pulse trade around it reaches deep into the surrounding districts. What comes from Bengaluru is the trade layer, not the crop — grading and packing material, printed sacks and labels, weighing and moisture-testing equipment and spares, laboratory consumables, contracts and consignment paperwork. The crop protection chemicals that people assume travel with all this do not, and that is set out below.
Kannada publishing, academic and cultural material
Dharwad has been a centre of Kannada letters, music and scholarship for a very long time, and the printing, publishing and academic traffic that goes with it is a genuine part of this lane — book consignments and journal runs, manuscripts and proofs, conference and exhibition material, framed material and instruments for cultural events. Books are heavy for their volume and travel best in tightly packed double-wall cartons; a half-empty book box crushes under stacking, which is where damage on this cargo actually comes from.
Family and household parcels
A large north Karnataka working population lives in Bengaluru and this lane carries the ordinary business of a family living in two places. Sealed strips of prescription medicine with the pharmacy bill, a replacement phone with the SIM fitted, kitchen appliances bought here because the range is better, school books, winter bedding for the Dharwad cold, documents needing a wet-ink signature, and clothes and gifts before the festival weeks. Regular senders should ask for a standing monthly slot.
A short, real list.
Nothing in the first card moves on DTDC or on any air-linked network, in any packaging. The second card is the set of refusals we actually see on Bengaluru → Hubballi-Dharwad, and an agricultural trading region produces its own list:
Banned outright
- Pesticides, herbicides and agricultural chemicals
- Veterinary injectables, vials and cold-chain medicines
- Petrol, diesel, kerosene and any fuel residue
- Liquids generally — oils, syrups, solutions, fragrance
- Aerosols and pressurised cans
- Currency notes, gold and silver bullion
Common Bengaluru → Hubballi-Dharwad misjudgements
- Crop-protection chemicals and seed-treatment products — the single most-attempted refusal on this lane, because the region farms seriously and inputs are often cheaper or only available in the city. Pesticides, fungicides, herbicides and treatment powders are toxic goods, frequently flammable as well, and are excluded from carriage in every pack size including a sealed retail sachet. Untreated seed and dry planting material can usually be quoted; anything chemically dressed cannot.
- Veterinary medicines and cattle supplements — dairy and livestock are everywhere in these districts and a vet or a farmer will ask for medicines to be sent up from a Bengaluru supplier. Injectables, vaccine vials, anything needing refrigeration and anything liquid are all refused outright: there is no cold chain in a parcel movement and no way to guarantee the temperature. Sealed dry feed supplements and mineral mixtures in factory packs with an invoice are usually fine — ask before you buy.
- Petrol brush-cutters, chainsaws, sprayers and pump sets — agricultural machinery goes up this lane and it is frequently dispatched with fuel still in the tank or oil in the sump. A machine that has ever held fuel is treated as a fuel consignment until it is drained, run dry, and the tank cap sealed, and even then the residue can fail a counter check. Tell us at booking what the machine is and how it was prepared.
- Loose chilli powder and spice in cloth sacks — not a ban, a packing standard, and the source of more complaints on this route than anything else. The regional chilli and spice trade means powders move in both directions, and a woven sack sheds fine dust through its weave into every parcel stacked against it, which then has to be written off. Double polythene inside a rigid carton, taped, in its own box. We will bring liners at pickup if you say what is going.
- Dharwad pedha and khoa-based sweets on a summer surface leg — the famous version is factory-made and sealed and it travels adequately in cool months. Khoa is reduced milk, though, and two to three days in a closed carton through a Deccan summer is not kind to it. If sweets have to go, book express, keep them in a rigid box of their own, and accept that we will tell you honestly when we think it is a bad idea rather than take the booking and let it arrive spoiled.
AWB on WhatsApp. Track on dtdc.in. POD when it lands.
The AWB number reaches you on WhatsApp as soon as the parcel is booked into DTDC, and the public tracker at dtdc.in carries it from there; the POD follows within an hour of the drop. The one thing that causes trouble on this lane is not the road, it is the address. Because Hubballi and Dharwad are administered as a single municipal corporation and share the 580xxx range, senders routinely write "Hubli-Dharwad" as though it were one place, leave the pin off, and assume it will find its way. It will, eventually — after a misroute between two cities twenty kilometres apart and a lost working day. Write the actual city, the actual locality and the six-digit pin. The second note is for trade deliveries: the APMC market yard and the Gokul Road, Tarihal and Belur estates work to their own receiving hours, so put the stores or counter contact’s mobile on the AWB, not an office landline, and tell us the window.
Specific to Bangalore → Hubballi-Dharwad.
Is Hubballi the same booking as Dharwad, and which pin code should I write?
Same rate and same transit, but not the same address, and this is the most common mistake we see on the route. Hubballi and Dharwad are twin cities about twenty kilometres apart, governed together as one municipal corporation and sharing the 580xxx pin range, which is exactly why people write “Hubli-Dharwad” as a single destination and stop there. Delivery, however, runs as two separate areas: Hubballi covers the commercial city — the old bazaar, Keshwapur, Vidyanagar, Gokul Road, Unkal and the Tarihal industrial belt — while Dharwad covers the university and administrative side including Saptapur, Kalyan Nagar, Malmaddi and the Belur estate. A parcel addressed to the wrong twin, or to neither because the pin was left off, gets re-sorted and loses a working day. Write the city name plainly, the locality, and the exact six-digit pin, and if you are not sure which of the two your recipient is in, send us the address on WhatsApp before booking and we will tell you.
Why is a 410 km lane inside Karnataka slower on surface than my Chennai parcel at 350 km?
Because transit bands are set by hub schedules, not by odometer readings, and we would rather explain that than have you assume something is wrong. A surface parcel spends part of its life on the road and part of it sitting in sortation waiting for a movement to be built. The lanes into northern Tamil Nadu ride a dense, high-frequency southbound corridor with an early cut-off, so a consignment handed over in the evening is usually on a vehicle the same night and delivered next day. North-west Karnataka freight is consolidated for a trunk movement that continues on towards Pune and Mumbai, and Hubballi-Dharwad is a drop along that route rather than its destination — so a day of the transit is spent in handling and connection rather than in motion. The practical consequences for you are simple. Book before the evening cut-off, because a missed cut-off adds a day that no service level recovers. And if you need it faster, express here is genuinely worth it: it bypasses the road entirely and delivers in 1–2 working days rather than 2–3, which is not true of our shorter Tamil Nadu lanes where both services land in the same band.
Can I send agricultural inputs, seeds or veterinary medicine to a farm near Hubballi?
Some of it, and the line is worth knowing before you buy rather than after we refuse it at the counter. What cannot travel: pesticides, herbicides, fungicides and seed-dressing chemicals in any pack size, sealed retail sachets included, because they are toxic and often flammable and are excluded from carriage across every network. Veterinary injectables, vaccines and anything requiring refrigeration also cannot go, because a parcel movement has no temperature control at any point and a warm vaccine is worse than no vaccine. Liquid fertiliser concentrates, growth regulators and any chemical in solution are refused as liquids. What generally can travel: dry, sealed and chemically untreated planting material with an invoice; sealed dry feed supplements and mineral mixtures in factory packs; irrigation fittings, drip components, sprayer spare parts with no fuel or chemical residue in them; testing and weighing equipment; and all the paperwork. Petrol-driven machinery is its own case — it must be run dry, drained and sealed before we can accept it. Send us a photograph of the pack or the machine on WhatsApp and we will give you a straight yes or no before you spend money on it.

WhatsApp us the pickup address and a rough weight, or call and we will take it down. The Bengaluru desk runs 24×7, and on a lane governed by an evening consolidation cut-off, handing the parcel over tonight rather than tomorrow morning is worth a full working day.
