Sufi tabarruk, Mayo / LPU kits, Marwari documents.
Sufi-devotee tabarruk
Ludhiana has a Sufi community connected to the Khwaja Garib Nawaz Dargah lineage — chadars, tasbih, calligraphy prints, devotional books and sacred-site memorabilia ship routinely. Cloth and dry items only; liquid attar, rose-water and scented oils are banned on courier.
Mayo College alumni care kits
Care kits, school memorabilia, Mayo merchandise and personal effects from current students and parents in Ajmer to Ludhiana-resident Mayo alumni — and the return leg from alumni back to current boarders.
LPU / Punjab Univ student care kits
Parents in Ajmer shipping books, dry food, kitchen tools, bedding and woollens to LPU (Phagwara campus, day-bus from Ludhiana) and Punjab Univ. Peak in semester start and exam season.
Wedding outfits to Marwari families
Ajmer hosts a steady run of Marwari weddings, especially around the Pushkar Road venues — wedding outfits, sealed dry sweet boxes, photographer drives and gift consolidation to Punjabi-Marwari families in Ludhiana.
Marwari business documents
Sealed-cover originals, invoices, signed paperwork from Naya Bazaar wholesale firms to Ghantaghar / Chaura Bazaar wholesale buyers — express only for time-bound paper, recurring slot for the larger senders.
Pushkar tourism returns
Tourists who came in via Pushkar (about 14 km away) shipping purchases home — sacred items from the temple, hippie-market clothing, leather, brassware. Packed at our office and shipped onward to Ludhiana.
A short, real list.
DTDC (and every air-network courier) prohibits these. Items most often misjudged on the Ajmer → Ludhiana lane:
Banned outright
- Liquid attar, rose-water, scented oils — the most common Ajmer misjudgement
- Liquids of any kind — perfumes, gels, hand sanitiser
- Aerosols and pressurised cans
- Cosmetics, nail polish, fragrance samples
- Flammable solids and matches
- Currency notes and gold/silver bullion
- Lithium batteries above 100 Wh on the air leg
Common Ajmer → Ludhiana misjudgements
- Liquid attar from Dargah Bazaar shops — these are oils, banned on courier. Tabarruk parcels must be cloth and dry items only.
- Packed pickle / ghee — semi-liquid; do not pack with regular parcels.
- Loose handmade incense — paste-based agarbatti is treated as flammable solid.
- Rose-water for ziyarat parcels — liquid; rejected at the sort.
AWB on WhatsApp. Track on dtdc.in. POD when it lands.

Specific to Ajmer → Ludhiana.
If I book before 10 AM, can it reach Ghantaghar or Chaura Bazaar the same evening?
Yes — for the wholesale spine around Ghantaghar and Chaura Bazaar (and the core 141001 / 141008 pin codes), an express booking placed before our 10 AM cutoff in Ajmer clears the same-evening DTDC connection via Jaipur and lands on the Ludhiana evening run. Industrial Area phases past 7 / 8 sometimes slip to next-morning. Add the recipient’s phone on the AWB — last-mile in the GT Road wholesale lanes relies on it.
Are there special rules for shipping Sufi tabarruk to a Ludhiana Sufi community?
Cloth and dry devotional items — chadars, tasbih, calligraphy prints, devotional books, sacred-site memorabilia — ship without any issue. What is not allowed on courier: liquid attar, rose-water, scented oils, and any other liquid. These are restricted on air freight and most ground networks. We’ll happily repack a tabarruk parcel with the cloth and dry items if you bring liquids by mistake — they just can’t go through DTDC. Substitute dry rose-petal sachets for rose-water if needed.
I’m sending an LPU or Punjab Univ student care kit — what packs cleanly?
Books, dry food (sealed namkeen, mathri, kachori boxes, dry mawa barfi in factory packs), kitchen utensils, bedding, woollens for the cold months — all fine. Avoid pickles, ghee, homemade chutneys (liquid / semi-liquid), aerosol toiletries and any liquid attar. Mark the carton with hostel block, room number and the recipient’s phone; LPU last-mile is into Phagwara from the Ludhiana sort, so add a day to the express transit if the address is on the LPU campus rather than Ludhiana proper.
