What you’ll need at pickup.
Customs paperwork is the most common reason an international parcel stalls. Jersey’s small size means clearance is fast once paperwork is in order — but Jersey’s separate customs regime trips up senders who assume it works like the UK.
KYC of the sender
One photo ID for the person whose name is on the AWB — Aadhaar, passport or driving licence. We photograph it at pickup; not stored beyond DTDC’s record.
Commercial invoice
For commercial goods, a printed invoice listing items, quantity and value. For gifts, a written declaration suffices but value still must be stated. Recipient’s Jersey Social Security number or passport helps clearance.
Prescription (medicines)
For tablets going to a family member: a copy of the prescription with the doctor’s registration number. Medicines are regulated by HSSD; sealed-strip oral medication in prescribed quantities is fine. No injectables, no controlled substances.
What Jersey doesn’t let in.
Jersey is a major offshore-financial-services jurisdiction with its own legal and customs framework. The Jersey Customs and Immigration Service enforces a clear list. Items shipped against it are seized; senders may be flagged.

Isn’t Jersey part of the UK? Why are the rates and paperwork different?
Jersey is a UK Crown Dependency, not part of the United Kingdom itself. Practically, that means three things for a courier parcel. Jersey is NOT in the UK customs union — it has its own Jersey Customs and Immigration Service with separate paperwork. Jersey is NOT in the EU. And Jersey applies its own GST regime, distinct from UK VAT. Rates are higher than UK rates because of the inter-island feeder leg from Heathrow to Jersey Airport, and clearance is a separate step at Jersey rather than at a UK gateway.
How long does it really take, door to door?
Realistically, 7–9 working days for express from Ajmer. Ajmer to Mumbai/Delhi adds a day. Mumbai/Delhi to London Heathrow takes 2–3 days, transfer to the inter-island feeder adds a day, Jersey customs clearance is typically same-day-to-next-day once on-island, and last-mile in Saint Helier or Saint Saviour is fast. Economy lands in 10–15 days. The variable bit is the Heathrow-to-Jersey transfer; if it misses a connection, you lose a day.
