03 — Rate band, Udaipur → Sweden

Starting rates. Real pricing depends on weight.

Final price depends on actual or volumetric weight (whichever is greater) plus the international fuel surcharge in force on your booking date. GST is extra.

Starting per-kg rates

  • Express (5–7 days, door)from ₹1,400 / kg
  • Economy (8–12 days, door)from ₹1,000 / kg
  • Min billable weight0.5 kg
  • Pickup from UdaipurFree at 5 kg+

Volumetric formula: (L × W × H cm) ÷ 5000.

Worked example

A 2 kg parcel — say books and a kitchen kit for a student at KTH:

  • Express, 2 kg × ₹1,400≈ ₹2,800
  • + fuel surcharge (~25%)≈ ₹700
  • + GST 18%≈ ₹630
  • Approx total, express≈ ₹4,130–4,650

Indicative only. Fuel surcharge and rate cards change. EU import VAT (25%) and any duty above EUR 150 is paid by the consignee.

04 — Customs & documentation

What you’ll need at pickup.

Sweden uses EU TARIC. Tullverket is efficient — paperwork has to be accurate, but clearance is rarely the bottleneck.

KYC of the sender

One photo ID for the person whose name is on the AWB — Aadhaar, passport or driving licence. We photograph it at pickup.

Commercial invoice + recipient ID

Itemised invoice with values in INR or EUR/SEK. Recipient’s personnummer (Swedish ID) for personal parcels, or org-nummer for B2B — Swedish customs systems use these for fast clearance.

Prescription (medicines)

Doctor’s prescription with registration number for tablets. Läkemedelsverket (MPA) is strict — no injectables, no controlled substances, sealed strips only.

05 — Sweden-specific restrictions

What Sweden doesn’t let in.

Standard EU restrictions plus Sweden-specific rules. Tullverket and police enforce strictly.

Don’t even try

  • Alcohol of any kind — Systembolaget is a state monopoly; couriers have zero tolerance, even for sealed gift bottles.
  • Snus and novel tobacco products — Swedish regulations apply; courier can’t handle.
  • Drugs and controlled substances — including unprescribed tablets.
  • Weapons and weapon-replicas — including imitation firearms and certain knives.
  • Aerosols and pressurised containers — universal courier rule.
  • Lithium batteries above 100 Wh — restricted on air leg.
  • Counterfeit goods — seized and destroyed.
  • CITES-listed items — ivory, certain corals, exotic skins.

Allowed with care

  • Textiles and sarees — block-print fabric, lehengas, cotton clothing. Declare a fair value.
  • Books and printed material — any topic; straightforward.
  • Sealed dry sweets — declare ingredients and allergens; Swedish allergy-labeling rules are strict.
  • Tablets with prescription — sealed strips, doctor’s slip, no liquids or injectables.
  • Non-precious jewellery — declare make and value.
  • Small electronics — declare model and value.
  • Papier-mâché and Rajasthani handicraft — fine; no untreated wood.
06 — What goes Udaipur → Sweden

Care packages, textiles, gifts, B2B.

Gifts to Indian-Swedish families

Stockholm, Gothenburg, Malmö, Lund, Uppsala, Umeå. Sweden has a sizeable Indian-IT and engineering diaspora — Stockholm-Kista IT-corridor and the Gothenburg Volvo/Ericsson belt are dense.

Wedding outfits & festival sets

Sarees, lehengas, sherwanis, dupattas. Shipped ahead of Swedish-Indian weddings; recommend express to land 2–3 weeks before.

Diwali parcels (non-food)

Diyas, decorations, pooja items. Express to Stockholm and Gothenburg before the festival.

B2B handicraft to design boutiques

Swedish design-shop owners and IKEA-spillover suppliers buy block-print cushions, dohars, papier-mâché. Small-volume B2B with commercial invoice.

Returning-traveller baggage

Swedish tourists travel India regularly. We pick up from the hotel, pack, ship before they fly out so they don’t pay airline excess.

Student care kits

Books, kitchen tools, festival clothing for KTH Stockholm, Chalmers Gothenburg, Lund University, Uppsala, KI Karolinska. Indian-engineering and medical-student traffic is steady. Peak intake: August.

Stockholm-Kista IT-corridor parcels

Office-address express to corporate buildings in Kista. Once Tullverket clears, last-mile is next-business-day.

Indian-restaurant supply documents

Menus, supplier paperwork, contracts for Indian restaurants in Stockholm and Gothenburg. Express tracked international.

07 — Tracking & proof of delivery

AWB on WhatsApp. Track on dtdc.in. POD when it lands.

The moment the parcel is booked into DTDC International, we send you the AWB number on WhatsApp. Type it into the public tracker at dtdc.in any time. When delivery happens we forward the POD — signed slip or photo — within the hour.

08 — Three questions about Sweden shipments

Asked most often.

What’s the difference between Sweden (EU) and Norway (non-EU) for my parcel?

Sweden is in the EU, so Tullverket clears under the EU-wide TARIC system at Stockholm-Arlanda or Gothenburg, with EU duty thresholds (gifts under EUR 45 generally exempt, goods under EUR 150 face VAT only, above that VAT plus duty). Norway is not — Tolletaten clears separately, with Norwegian duty rules (NOK 350 threshold and 25% VAT). Practically, a Sweden parcel often clears 24–48 hours faster than a Norway parcel, and the consignee paperwork is simpler. Both are reliable lanes; Sweden is just slightly leaner on customs.

I send parcels to my husband in Stockholm-Kista — can DTDC deliver to his office?

Yes — once Tullverket clears (usually 24–48 hours after arrival at Arlanda), express last-mile to Kista corporate addresses is reliably next-business-day. We just need the company name, building/floor reference, and a phone number for the receiver in case the courier needs to call up. Office addresses actually clear faster than apartment-block addresses because someone is always at the desk to sign.

My daughter is a medical student at Karolinska — what care kit works?

Karolinska is a steady lane for us. The kit that clears cleanly: prescription tablets in sealed strip with doctor’s slip (no injectables, no liquids), books (any topic, including Hindi/Marathi novels), pressure cooker and steel tiffin (no wood), folded festival clothing, sealed dry sweets with allergen labels (Swedish rules are strict — declare nuts, dairy, gluten on the invoice). Don’t send loose spices in poly bags; use sealed factory packs only. Express in mid-August lands before her classes start.
