Tourist purchases, wedding returns, handicraft samples.
Tourist shipments home
Mumbai is the most common “home” for visitors to Udaipur. Miniature paintings, mojaris, brass, textiles from Hathipole, marble inlay — packed at your hotel and shipped before you fly.
Wedding returns
Photographer drives, decor returns to Mumbai vendors, leftover favours, gift consolidation. Bulk pickup over an afternoon, single GST invoice.
Handicraft samples
Block-print samples, papier-mâché, silver filigree (non-precious only), leather goods to Mumbai showrooms in Bandra, Lower Parel and Kala Ghoda.
Excess baggage
Especially for students moving to Mumbai colleges in July–August. Books, kitchen kits, clothes — usually a third cheaper than airline excess fees.
B2B commercial
Recurring shipments from Udaipur exporters and ateliers to Mumbai distributors. Weekly slots; rate sheet on contract.
Personal documents
Passports, originals, signed contracts. Express only on this lane — surface is too long for time-sensitive paperwork.
A short, real list.
DTDC (and every air-network courier) prohibits these. Items most often misjudged on the Udaipur → Mumbai lane:
Banned outright
- Liquids of any kind — perfumes, attars, oils, gels, hand sanitiser
- Aerosols and pressurised cans
- Cosmetics, nail polish, fragrance samples
- Flammable solids and matches
- Currency notes and gold/silver bullion
- Lithium batteries above 100 Wh on the air leg
Common Udaipur misjudgements
- Attar bottles from the old city — these are oils. They cannot ship.
- Silver jewellery — non-precious silverwork is fine; precious-metal pieces are not.
- Loose handmade incense — paste-based agarbatti is treated as flammable solid.
- Packed pickle / ghee — semi-liquid; do not pack with regular parcels.
AWB on WhatsApp. Track on dtdc.in. POD when it lands.
The moment the parcel is booked into DTDC, we send you the AWB number on WhatsApp. Type it into the public tracker at dtdc.in any time. When delivery happens we forward the POD — signed slip or photo — within the hour.
Specific to Udaipur → Mumbai.
If I’m flying to Mumbai tomorrow, will my parcel beat me?
On surface, no — surface is 2–3 working days. On express (air), often yes if you book before noon, since express moves overnight via Ahmedabad. For documents that absolutely must be there before you land, choose express and book the day before your flight.
Can you deliver to a hotel in Mumbai for a guest who hasn’t checked in yet?
Yes — we’ll mark “C/O reception, hold for guest [name], arrival [date]” on the AWB. Recommend booking express and timing the AWB so it arrives on or after the check-in date; hotels rarely hold parcels more than 48 hours.
I’m sending a marble painting to Bandra — how should it be packed?
Two-layer packing: bubble wrap directly on the piece, then a corrugated outer carton with foam corners, FRAGILE on every face. Surface routing (not air) reduces handling. Be aware DTDC’s default liability cap is limited; ask us about declared-value cover before pickup if the piece is high-value.
