Coaching-alumni Infosys parcels, university care kits, silk-saree B2B.
Coaching-alumni Infosys-Mysuru campus parcels
Kota's coaching factory pours out former JEE-prep / NEET-prep students into the IT engineering pipeline every year — and a large slice of that diaspora lands at the Infosys-Mysuru training campus. Care kits, document packs and excess baggage to former Allen / Resonance / Bansal students now in mainframe training. We mark gate, building and badge / employee number on the AWB.
University of Mysore / SJCE / JSS / DCM
Care kits to students at the University of Mysuru, SJCE, JSS and DCM in July–August and again at exam time. Books, kitchen kits, dry food, woollens — usually a third cheaper than airline excess.
Silk-saree B2B (reverse trade)
Kota-doria sarees flow south, Mysuru silk sarees often come back the other way for showrooms in Kota; we run sample-and-return slots between weavers' co-ops and retail showrooms. Flat-pack with tissue, corrugated outer.
Mysore silk & vacuum-sealed Mysore-pak
Mysore silk sarees flat-packed with tissue and corrugated outer, and commercially vacuum-sealed Mysore-pak from Kota gift consolidators. Fresh / loose Mysore-pak is perishable and not accepted.
Lalitha-Mahal / palace-area retirees
Older households around Lalitha Mahal and the palace zones receiving home goods, dry food and woollens from children settled in Kota. Surface routing keeps the rate honest.
Wedding shipments
Marwari–Kannadiga weddings between the two cities. Trousseau, Kota-doria saree gifts, decor returns, leftover favours — bulk pickup over an afternoon, single GST invoice.
A short, real list.
DTDC (and every air-network courier) prohibits these. Items most often misjudged on the Kota → Mysuru lane:
Banned outright
- Liquids of any kind — perfumes, attars, oils, gels, hand sanitiser
- Aerosols and pressurised cans
- Cosmetics, nail polish, fragrance samples
- Flammable solids and matches
- Currency notes and gold/silver bullion
- Lithium batteries above 100 Wh on the air leg
Common Mysuru misjudgements
- Sandalwood OIL — Mysore sandalwood-oil bottles are flammable liquids; they cannot ship. Soap bars and unscented sandalwood carvings are fine; oil is not.
- Fresh / loose Mysore-pak — perishable. Only commercially vacuum-sealed packs are accepted on this lane.
- Old-style zari sarees — some traditional zari uses mercury salts; those pieces are banned. Modern zari is fine.
- Aerosol cans / spray polish — pressurised, banned on the air leg.
AWB on WhatsApp. Track on dtdc.in. POD when it lands.

Specific to Kota → Mysuru.
Realistic transit on this lane?
Honest numbers: 4–5 working days on surface, 2 working days on express. Kota to Mysuru is roughly 2,150 km and there is no direct trunk — the parcel trans-ships via Mumbai → Bangalore → Mysuru. Surface line-haul moves overnight Kota → Mumbai, then Mumbai → Bangalore, then Bangalore → Mysuru last-mile. Express uses the air leg out of Mumbai to Bangalore which collapses two days into one. Don't believe sites that quote 2 days surface — that simply isn't physically possible without paying air-cargo rates.
How do you pack a Mysore silk saree (or Kota-doria) for this lane?
Flat-pack — never folded sharp. Saree goes inside acid-free tissue, then a flat board insert, then a corrugated outer just slightly larger than the board. Zero humidity inside (silica-gel sachet). Air-leg express (2 working days) is preferred over surface for silk because the parcel spends less time in transit warehouses where humidity varies. We mark FRAGILE / DO NOT BEND / KEEP DRY on every face. Same routine for Kota-doria going the other way.
Can I ship Mysore-pak (or Kota mithai) from a sweet-shop?
Yes if it's commercially vacuum-sealed by the manufacturer or a confectioner with shelf-stable packaging — those packs ship like any dry confection. No if it's fresh / loose / homemade — those are perishable and we cannot accept them. The same rule applies to dryfruit-laden Mysore-pak boxes and to Kota's Bafla / namkeen consolidations: vacuum-seal first, ship second.
