03 — Rate band, Jodhpur → Qatar

Starting rates. Real pricing depends on weight.

Qatar is similar to Saudi on starting rate but transit is faster thanks to direct Qatar Airways from Mumbai gateway. Final price depends on actual or volumetric weight (whichever is greater) plus the international fuel surcharge. GST extra.

Starting per-kg rates

  • Express (4–6 days, door)from ₹700 / kg
  • Economy (6–9 days, door)from ₹500 / kg
  • Min billable weight0.5 kg
  • Pickup from JodhpurFree at 5 kg+

Volumetric formula: (L × W × H cm) ÷ 5000. Antique-furniture-replica and handicraft tend to be volume-heavy — volumetric weight usually drives the bill.

Worked example

A 2 kg parcel — say a saree set plus festival decorations for a Doha-resident family during Diwali:

  • Express, 2 kg × ₹700≈ ₹1,400
  • + fuel surcharge (~25%)≈ ₹350
  • + GST 18%≈ ₹315
  • Approx total, express≈ ₹2,360

Indicative only. Fuel surcharge and rate cards change.

04 — Customs & documentation

What you’ll need at pickup.

Qatar Customs is reasonable but firm. MoPH (Ministry of Public Health) compliance is required for medicines. We’ll walk you through paperwork before pickup.

KYC of the sender

One photo ID — Aadhaar, passport or driving licence. We photograph it at pickup. For high-value B2B parcels we also recommend a sender’s passport copy or exporter IEC code on file.

Commercial invoice

For commercial goods, a printed invoice listing items, quantity and value. For personal gifts, a written declaration with honest value. The recipient’s Qatar ID (QID) speeds clearance — share it at booking if available.

Prescription (medicines)

Qatar’s MoPH compliance applies, similar to UAE. For tablets to a Doha-resident: prescription with doctor’s registration, sealed strips only, recipient’s QID on file. No injectables, no narcotics, no controlled substances, no liquid medicines.

05 — Qatar-specific restrictions

What Qatar doesn’t let in.

Qatar customs enforces real Sharia-state import rules. Slightly more permissive than Saudi on cultural materials and secular books, but pork, alcohol, drugs and Israeli products remain absolute red lines.

Don’t even try

  • All pork products — including gelatin-pork additives. Haram, seized at customs.
  • All alcohol — beverages, cooking essences with alcohol, alcohol-based perfumes in checked parcels. Zero tolerance.
  • Genuine antiques (older than 100 years) — restricted under India’s export rules. Antique-furniture replicas ship cleanly when declared as replicas.
  • Poppy seeds (khus-khus) — narcotic-precursor policy similar to UAE. Read masala labels before packing.
  • CBD, cannabis-derived products, recreational drugs — penalties are severe; do not ship anything questionable.
  • E-cigarettes and vape liquids — restricted on air, customs-seized.
  • Israeli-flagged products, religious-disrespectful materials, gambling items — flagged at customs.
  • Aerosols, lithium batteries above 100 Wh — universal courier rules.

Allowed with care

  • Antique-furniture replicas, papier-mâché, brass decor — declare as decorative handicraft replicas with fair value.
  • Leather goods (Jodhpur leather) — declare animal source on the invoice; cattle and goat leather is allowed, properly tanned and finished. Customs may inspect.
  • Textiles and sarees — block-print, lehengas, dupattas. Declare fair value.
  • Books (Islamic-respectful, secular textbooks) — Qatar is more relaxed than Saudi on cultural and academic materials.
  • Sealed dry packaged Indian sweets — declare honestly. Ghee-based mithai may be flagged; sealed dry sweets typically clear.
  • Prescription tablets — sealed strip, prescription, recipient’s QID.
  • Non-precious jewellery, small electronics — declare make, model, value.
06 — What goes Jodhpur → Qatar

Antique-replica B2B, handicraft, wedding outfits.

Antique-furniture-replica B2B to Qatar villa-imports

Carved-wood pieces, painted chests, replica almirahs and bedsteads from the Boranada-Salawas exporter belt to import showrooms in Doha, West Bay, The Pearl, Lusail. Commercial invoice with ‘replica’ wording, declared value.

Jodhpur handicraft (papier-mâché, brass decor)

Decorative pieces, miniature painting reproductions, brass and metalcraft decor to Doha boutiques and Indian-restaurant chains. Volumetric weight usually drives the bill.

Leather goods (cattle/goat, properly tanned)

Bags, juttis, wallets, jackets to Qatar retail boutiques. Declare animal source on the invoice; properly tanned and finished leather is allowed.

Business documents to Marwari traders in Souq Waqif

Signed contracts, exporter invoices, certificates of origin, originals for Qatar trade-licence work. Souq Waqif and Old Doha host steady Marwari business families. Express, tracked.

Wedding outfits to Qatar-Indian weddings

Lehengas, sherwanis, jewellery boxes (non-precious only), mehendi accessories. Big Indian wedding scene in Doha — ship 2–3 weeks ahead, customs is fast but plan for buffer.

Diwali parcels (Sharia-compatible non-food)

Diyas, decorations, pooja items minus agarbatti incense and fresh flowers. Recommend express to land before the festival.

07 — Tracking & proof of delivery

08 — Three questions about Qatar shipments from Jodhpur

Asked most often.

How does antique-furniture-replica shipment work to Qatar?

Replicas ship cleanly when declared as replicas. The key paperwork: a commercial invoice that explicitly says ‘antique-style replica, contemporary manufacture’ with declared value, plus your KYC and the buyer’s QID. Qatar import rules restrict genuine antiques older than 100 years; replicas are explicitly allowed. Volumetric weight tends to drive the bill on furniture-replica shipments — we flag the volumetric calculation upfront so there are no surprises.

How is Qatar customs different from Saudi Arabia?

Qatar applies the same red lines on pork, alcohol and drugs — those are absolute. Where Qatar is slightly more relaxed: cultural materials, secular and academic books, decorative items with non-Islamic motifs are generally cleared without the level of inspection Saudi applies. Customs at Doha tends to be predictable: paperwork-clean parcels move through in 24–48 hours, vs Saudi’s 48–72.

Why does Jodhpur take a day longer than Udaipur or Jaipur?

Jodhpur airport has limited international service, so DTDC International parcels feed into Mumbai gateway by overnight road or domestic air before joining the Qatar Airways direct flight to Doha. That adds roughly one working day to the transit. The Mumbai-feeder route is steady and predictable, and Qatar Airways’ direct service from Mumbai keeps the air leg short.
