DTDC handover.
Same evening into the DTDC International facility; air movement to DXB Dubai or AUH Abu Dhabi. Route is usually JAI → BOM/DEL → DXB, occasionally direct JAI → DXB or JAI → SHJ when air capacity is available.
UAE customs.
Clearance at Dubai or Abu Dhabi gateway. Routine, paperwork-clean parcels typically clear within 24–48 hours; biosecurity holds happen on unsealed food and unlabeled medicines.

A 2 kg parcel — say a small batch of non-precious gem samples plus a commercial invoice for a Gold Souk trader in Deira:

What you’ll need at pickup.
UAE customs is generally fast and predictable, but the paperwork has to match. We’ll walk you through it before pickup so it doesn’t stall in Dubai. For Jaipur’s gem-trade shippers, declared-value cover for high-value sample shipments is worth discussing at booking.
KYC of the sender
One photo ID for the person whose name is on the AWB — Aadhaar, passport or driving licence. We photograph it at pickup. For high-value gem-sample parcels (~ ₹50,000+) we also recommend a sender’s passport copy.
Commercial invoice
For commercial goods including non-precious gem samples, a printed invoice listing items, quantity and declared value. For personal gifts, a written declaration suffices but value still must be stated honestly. The recipient’s Emirates ID helps clearance — share it if available.
Prescription (medicines)
UAE’s MoHAP is strict. For tablets to a UAE-resident family member: a copy of the prescription with doctor’s registration number, sealed strips only. No injectables, no narcotics, no controlled substances, no liquid medicines.
What UAE doesn’t let in.
UAE customs is faster than Saudi but enforces real Sharia-state rules around food, religion and pharmaceuticals. Items shipped against them are seized; recreational drugs carry severe penalties — be very careful. Also note: precious-metal bullion and loose precious stones are restricted under India’s export rules, not UAE’s — non-precious gem samples are the lane that runs cleanly out of Johari Bazaar.
Don’t even try
- All pork products — sausages, ham, gelatin-pork additives. Haram, seized at customs.
- All alcohol — beverages, cooking essences with alcohol traces, alcohol-based perfumes in checked parcels. Zero tolerance.
- Precious-metal bullion, loose precious stones — banned via courier under India’s own export rules. Send non-precious gem samples only with proper commercial invoice and declared-value cover.
- Poppy seeds (khus-khus) — yes, really. UAE bans these as part of its narcotic-precursor policy. Do not ship Indian masala mixes that include poppy seed.
- CBD, cannabis-derived products, recreational drugs — penalties are severe; trafficking can carry the death penalty. Don’t ship anything questionable.
- E-cigarettes and vape liquids — restricted on air, customs-seized.
- Religious items disrespectful to Islam, Israel-flagged products, books critical of UAE/Sharia — flagged at customs.
- Aerosols, lithium batteries above 100 Wh — universal courier rules.
Allowed with care
- Non-precious gem samples — coloured stones, semi-precious cuts, sample lots for Gold Souk / Deira / DGGCN buyers. Commercial invoice with KYC and declared-value cover for higher-value batches.
- Textiles, sarees, wedding outfits — block-print Bagru/Sanganeri, Jaipur royal-style lehengas, sherwanis, dupattas. Declare a fair value.
- Books (Islamic-respectful) — straightforward; declare title and value.
- Sealed dry packaged Indian sweets (Halal-compatible) — declare honestly. Ghee-based mithai may be flagged; sealed dry sweets typically clear.
- Prescription tablets — sealed strip, prescription, no narcotics, no controlled substances.
- Non-precious jewellery, small electronics, Jaipur handicraft — declare make, model, value.

Wedding outfits to UAE-Indian Marwari weddings
Jaipur Royal-style lehengas, sherwanis with embroidery, dupatta sets, jewellery boxes (non-precious only). UAE’s Marwari diaspora is heavy and weddings are a steady lane — ship 2–3 weeks ahead.
Diwali parcels (Halal-compatible non-food)
Diyas, decorations, pooja items minus agarbatti incense and fresh flowers. Recommend express to land before the festival.

Can I ship gem samples from Johari Bazaar to the Dubai Gold Souk?
Yes — for non-precious stones (coloured stones, semi-precious cuts, sample lots, jewellery findings). The lane runs every day. We need a commercial invoice with item description, quantity and honest declared value, your KYC, and the recipient’s Emirates ID at booking. For higher-value sample batches we recommend declared-value cover via DTDC, which protects against loss in transit. Note: precious-metal bullion and loose precious stones are restricted from courier shipment under India’s own export rules — those move via specialised hand-carry, not regular courier.
Does Jaipur airport have direct flights to the Gulf?
Sometimes, yes — JAI runs occasional direct services to Dubai, Sharjah and Muscat depending on airline schedules. When direct routing is available it can shave a day off transit. Most weeks though, parcels still feed via Mumbai or Delhi gateway because DTDC International capacity sits with the bulk freighters out of those hubs. We use whichever routing the airway bill clears first — your priority is the deadline, ours is hitting it.
Can I send Indian sweets during Eid or Diwali?
Halal-compatible sealed dry sweets work — soan papdi in factory packs, dry mithai, namkeen, dry fruits. Ghee-based mithai (gulab jamun, halwa, kalakand) can be flagged because of how UAE’s biosecurity rules read on dairy fats; we recommend dry alternatives for Eid and Diwali parcels. Declare honestly on the invoice.
