  • Economy (9–14 days, door)from ₹1,000 / kg

  • Express, 2 kg × ₹1,400≈ ₹2,800
  • + fuel surcharge (~25%)≈ ₹700
  • + GST 18%≈ ₹630
  • Approx total, express≈ ₹4,650

Indicative only. Fuel surcharge and rate cards change.

04 — Customs & documentation

What you’ll need at pickup.

Spanish customs (Agencia Tributaria) clears EU TARIC paperwork efficiently. Get the NIE/DNI/NIF right at pickup and the parcel moves through Madrid or Barcelona without issues.

KYC of the sender

One photo ID for the person whose name is on the AWB — Aadhaar, passport or driving licence. We photograph it at pickup; not stored beyond DTDC’s record.

Commercial invoice

For commercial goods, a printed invoice with item, HS code, quantity and value. Recipient NIF for B2B (Inditex/Mango supply chain, Barcelona-fashion-district buyers); personal recipient needs NIE (foreigner identity) or DNI (Spanish national ID). For gifts, a written declaration with stated value.

Prescription (medicines)

Sealed tablets only, with a copy of the doctor’s prescription and registration number. AEMPS rules apply — no controlled substances, no liquid medicines, no injectables.

05 — Spain-specific restrictions

What Spain doesn’t let in.

These are real Agencia Tributaria and EU TARIC rules — not our caution. Items shipped against them are seized, and the consignee usually pays a disposal fee.

Don’t even try

  • Precious metals and bullion — Jaipur gem-traders should note: only NON-PRECIOUS samples (silver-plated brass, costume settings, glass-stone pieces) move on consumer courier. Precious gold/diamond consignments need dedicated insured-carrier networks.
  • Weapons and weapon-replicas — Spain has historic-weapon protection laws; even decorative swords, kirpans and ornamental knives get flagged.
  • Drug paraphernalia — pipes, scales, grow-kits and similar are blocked.
  • Counterfeit goods — luxury and branded counterfeits are seized and destroyed.
  • Bullfighting-related items — controversial; some autonomous communities (Catalonia, Canary Islands) have specific bans on related materials.
  • Materials related to ETA/Basque-conflict heritage — sensitive flag; rare but real.
  • Ivory and CITES-listed products — strictly enforced.
  • Aerosols, perfumes, lithium >100 Wh — universal courier restriction.

Allowed with care

  • Block-print textiles — Bagru and Sanganer hand-block cotton, silk dupattas, lehengas. Spanish customs handles non-counterfeit textiles cleanly — Inditex and Mango source from Indian textile suppliers regularly.
  • Non-precious gem-trade samples — silver-plated brass, costume settings, glass stones, semi-precious unmounted samples for Madrid and Barcelona Marwari merchants. Declare ‘non-precious sample’ explicitly.
  • Books and printed material — any topic; Spanish-translated Indian materials are particularly welcome.
  • Sealed dry sweets — declare allergens line by line.
  • Prescription tablets — sealed strip, doctor’s prescription, EU Rx-equivalent.
  • Non-precious jewellery — declare make and value clearly.
  • Small electronics, papier-mâché — declare model and value.
06 — What goes Jaipur → Spain

Inditex/Mango supply, Barcelona design B2B, Marwari Madrid trade.

Block-print B2B (Inditex/Mango supply chain)

Spanish fashion (Inditex/Zara, Mango) sometimes sources Bagru and Sanganer block-print samples from Jaipur. Small lots and swatch-books move on this lane regularly. Commercial invoice with NIF, item-level descriptions and per-piece values, KYC, every time.

Gem-trade non-precious samples (Madrid/Barcelona Marwari)

Madrid and Barcelona have Marwari merchant communities trading non-precious samples and costume jewellery. Silver-plated brass settings, costume pieces, glass-stones and semi-precious unmounted samples ship on this lane. Precious gold/diamond consignments are NOT shipped on consumer courier.

Wedding outfits

Lehengas, sherwanis, dupattas to Indian-Spanish families across Madrid, Barcelona and Valencia. Always express.

Catalonia Sikh agricultural community

Punjabi-Sikh families work agriculture across Catalonia. Care kits — books, sealed dry snacks, festival items — go to these rural Catalan addresses regularly.

Student care kits

Books, sealed dry snacks, kitchen tools, Indian-grocery basics to IE Business School, UPM, UC3M and Pompeu Fabra. Indian-student community is small but steady.

Returning-traveller baggage

Spanish tourists travel India heavily — Rajasthan especially. Many buy textiles and jewellery in Jaipur and ship before they fly out. Picked up from the hotel, packed, sent home with a clean commercial invoice.

Indian-restaurant supply documents

Invoices, contracts, sample papers for Indian-restaurant chains in Madrid and Barcelona.

07 — Tracking & proof of delivery

AWB on WhatsApp. Track on dtdc.in. POD when it lands.

The moment the parcel is booked into DTDC International, we send you the AWB number on WhatsApp. Type it into the public tracker at dtdc.in any time. When delivery happens we forward the POD — signed slip or photo — within the hour.

08 — Three questions about Spain shipments

Asked most often.

Inditex / Mango block-print sourcing from Jaipur — how does it ship?

Spanish fast-fashion (Inditex/Zara, Mango) and smaller Barcelona-fashion-district designers do scout Bagru and Sanganer block-print houses for sample work. The shipments are typically swatch-books, sample lots and small production runs on consumer courier. Routine: commercial invoice with item-level descriptions and per-piece values, NIF of the Spanish receiving entity, KYC of the Jaipur sender. With those three, Aduanas treats it as legitimate B2B and clears it in 24–72 hours at Madrid or Barcelona. Without NIF, it gets reclassified as personal — duties recalculated, parcel delayed.

Spanish-tourist returning-baggage from Jaipur — what’s the routine?

Spanish travellers come to Rajasthan in big numbers and routinely buy more than their flight allowance — block-print quilts, brass items, papier-mâché, costume jewellery. Routine is: pickup from the hotel (Jaipur, often the Old City near Hawa Mahal), pack on our table with a clear list, and ship before they fly. The receiver address is their Spanish home, and we use their NIE or DNI on the commercial invoice. Spanish customs treats it as ‘personal effects’ which is a friendlier classification — duties usually under €30 on a 5–10kg parcel.

How does Spain customs compare to France or Italy?

Spain sits in the middle. Faster than Italy on average, slightly slower than France, and meaningfully slower than Germany. Madrid and Barcelona ports clear clean parcels in 24–72 hours; verification rounds occasionally add a day. We quote 6–8 working days express to be honest about the band — best-case is 5, but week 2 of shipping is realistic if Aduanas wants to verify a value declaration. With a clean invoice and NIE/NIF, parcels rarely actually fail clearance.
