Gem-trade samples, Gulf-diaspora gateway, student kits.
Gem-trade non-precious samples
Jaipur is India’s coloured-stone trade capital. Non-precious gem samples, lac and meenakari pieces, sample books and trader catalogues move from Pink-City ateliers to Kozhikode Marwari merchants under commercial invoice + KYC. Precious-metal pieces are excluded; declared-value cover available.
Student care kits
Calicut University, NIT-Calicut and IIM-Kozhikode pull students from Jaipur and across India. Snacks, kurtas, semester books, kitchenware — usually a third cheaper than airline excess fees, and the only realistic option for non-flying parents.
Kerala diaspora gateway
Calicut is the homeward gateway for the Malabar Muslim Gulf diaspora. Pink-City Marwari families ship dry foods, gifts and household items to Kerala-resident relatives heading to the Gulf — or to ancestral homes around Kozhikode before the relatives fly out.
Dry-spice B2B samples
Kozhikode is Asia’s pepper-trade origin point. Dry samples of black pepper, cardamom and dry chilli move legitimately under commercial invoice + KYC. Spice oils, pastes and any oil-bearing product are not permitted on the air leg.
Marwari trader parcels
Old Marwari business families on Mittai Theruvu and the SM Street wholesale stretch maintain regular Pink-City ties — wedding invites, gifts, account documents, festival shipments and Jaipur-side wedding-outfit consolidation.
Retiree parcels
Households with elderly parents in Beach, West Hill or Chevayur receiving medicines, festival sweets and sarees from Jaipur kin. Recurring small-parcel slot, billed monthly.
A short, real list.
DTDC (and every air-network courier) prohibits these. Items most often misjudged on the Jaipur → Calicut lane:
Banned outright
- Liquids of any kind — perfumes, attars, oils, gels, hand sanitiser
- Aerosols and pressurised cans
- Coconut oil, cardamom oil and any spice-distillate oils
- Liquid pickle, fish-curry mix and Kerala-style achaar
- Arrack, toddy and any Kerala-region alcohol
- Cosmetics, nail polish, fragrance samples
- Flammable solids and matches
- Currency notes and gold/silver bullion
Common misjudgements on this lane
- Coconut oil / spice oils — these are liquids; banned even in sealed bottles.
- Liquid pickle, fish-curry mix, kerala-style achaar — perishable and semi-liquid; not allowed.
- Attar bottles from Johari Bazaar / old-city Jaipur — these are oils. They cannot ship.
- Loose handmade incense — paste-based agarbatti is treated as flammable solid.
AWB on WhatsApp. Track on dtdc.in. POD when it lands.
The moment the parcel is booked into DTDC, we send you the AWB number on WhatsApp. Type it into the public tracker at dtdc.in any time. When delivery happens we forward the POD — signed slip or photo — within the hour.
Specific to Jaipur → Kozhikode (Calicut).
What’s the realistic transit time, honestly?
Surface is genuinely 4–5 working days because the route runs Jaipur → Mumbai → Bangalore and then crosses the Western Ghats into the Calicut DTDC. Express via the Mumbai → Bangalore air leg lands in 2–3 working days. We won’t promise next-day on this lane — anyone who does is overselling. If a particular delivery date matters (a wedding, a viva at NIT-Calicut), tell us and we’ll work backwards from it.
How does dry-spice B2B sampling work to or from Calicut?
Dry whole spices — black pepper, cardamom pods, dry red chilli, dry turmeric — move legitimately under a commercial invoice and KYC documents (GST + Aadhaar of the consignor). Oils, pastes, fresh produce and ground masalas with oil content are not allowed on the air leg. We can pre-clear the paperwork on WhatsApp before pickup so there are no surprises at booking.
Do you deliver to Beach, Chevayur or out to Wayanad?
Calicut city pin codes (Beach, West Hill, Chevayur, Mavoor Road, Eranhipalam) are direct DTDC last-mile from the Calicut hub. Wayanad — Kalpetta, Sulthan Bathery, Mananthavady — adds 1–2 working days because the parcel goes by road up the ghat. We confirm realistic delivery dates upfront once you give us the recipient PIN.
