What you’ll need at pickup.
French customs (Douanes Françaises) is generally efficient on EU TARIC paperwork. Get the invoice and identifiers right at pickup and the parcel moves through CDG without fuss. For Bikaneri-bhujia, France enforces EU food-labelling — sealed factory packs with ingredient and allergen declarations clear; loose snacks do not.
KYC of the sender
One photo ID for the person whose name is on the AWB — Aadhaar, passport or driving licence. We photograph it at pickup; not stored beyond DTDC’s record.
Commercial invoice
For commercial goods, a printed invoice with item, HS code, quantity and value. Recipient SIRET for B2B is required; French Numéro Fiscal for personal recipient eases clearance. For gifts, a written declaration with stated value.
Prescription (medicines)
Sealed tablets only, with a copy of the doctor’s prescription and registration number. ANSM rules apply — no controlled substances, no liquid medicines, no injectables.
What France doesn’t let in.
These are real Douanes and EU TARIC rules — not our caution. Items shipped against them are seized, and the consignee usually pays a disposal fee.
Don’t even try
- Counterfeit luxury goods — France is HQ to LVMH, Hermès, Chanel; anti-counterfeit cooperation is the strictest in the EU. Even ‘inspired-by’ items get flagged.
- Loose / unsealed Bikaneri-bhujia or namkeen — France enforces EU food-import labelling; only sealed factory packs with allergen and ingredient declarations clear.
- Drug paraphernalia — pipes, scales, grow-kits and similar items are blocked.
- CBD or cannabis products with THC — French law on cannabinoids is restrictive; assume blocked.
- Weapons and edged-decorative items — banned-weapon list catches ornamental swords, kirpans and decorative knives.
- Ivory and animal products — CITES plus France’s additional protections.
- Aerosols, perfumes, lithium >100 Wh — universal courier restriction.
- Items with Nazi iconography — French law (Loi Gayssot); even foreign-published memorabilia is blocked.
Allowed with care
- Sealed-pack Bikaneri-bhujia — factory-sealed retail packs with EU-style allergen and ingredient labelling clear cleanly; B2B sample boxes for Paris Indian-grocery buyers go this way.
- Textiles and outfits — block-print, silk, lehengas. France’s fashion-import-friendly customs handles non-counterfeit textiles cleanly.
- Books and printed material — any topic; declare title and value.
- Sealed dry sweets — declare allergens; gluten and nut callouts especially.
- Prescription tablets — sealed strip, doctor’s prescription, EU Rx-equivalent.
- Non-precious jewellery — declare clearly to differentiate from precious.
Bikaneri-bhujia B2B, Marwari business documents, family parcels.
Bikaneri-bhujia-export B2B
Sealed-pack bhujia, namkeen and dry-snack samples to the Indian-grocery shop network in Paris-Faubourg-Saint-Denis (10th arrondissement) and Lyon. EU food-labelling compliance handled at pack stage — ingredients, allergens, manufacturer details printed on the retail pack.
Marwari business documents
Commercial invoices, sample dispatch papers, signed contracts to France-resident Bikaner-Marwari families. The diaspora in Paris is small but present — the Faubourg-Saint-Denis trader network keeps a thread back to Bikaner.
Wedding outfits
Lehengas, sherwanis, dupattas to Indian-French families and Bikaner-Marwari diaspora households. Always express.
Diwali parcels
Sealed sweets, decorations, diyas, pooja items shipped before mid-October to land in time for the festival.
Returning-traveller baggage
For French tourists who picked up too much in Bikaner — Junagarh Fort, camel safari, blue-city heritage trips — picked up from the hotel, packed, shipped before they fly out.
Student care kits
Books, sealed dry snacks, kitchen tools, Indian-grocery basics to Indian students at Sciences Po, École Polytechnique, INSEAD and Sorbonne.

Asked most often.
Why does Bikaner → France take a day longer than Delhi → France?
Bikaner has no airport. Every international parcel road-feeders to Jaipur or Delhi (~430 km) before joining the DTDC International air uplift. That feeder leg adds about a day on top of the air transit, so we quote 6–8 working days express where Delhi origin would be 5–7. The good news: rate cards stay the same — the feeder is built into our pricing, not surcharged separately.
Sending Bikaneri-bhujia to a Paris Indian-grocery buyer — what makes it clear EU food-import?
Three things. One, factory-sealed retail pack — never loose or repacked. Two, the pack must show ingredients in English/French, allergen callouts (especially gluten, nuts, mustard), manufacturer name/address and best-before date. Three, the commercial invoice must reference the recipient’s SIRET if it’s a B2B buyer (Paris Indian-grocery shops in Faubourg-Saint-Denis usually have SIRET). With those, EU food-import controls treat it as a normal labelled-snack import; without them, it gets held.
Bikaner-Marwari families in Paris — is the diaspora real or is this just a shipment ad?
It’s small but real. The Faubourg-Saint-Denis Indian wholesale district has a longstanding North-Indian trader presence; among them, Bikaner-origin Marwari merchant families turn up — fewer than the Gujarati or Punjabi communities, but present. Document and gift parcels move both ways. Most Bikaner-origin families in Paris are second or third generation now, but family ties back to Bikaner haven’t disappeared.
