Vijayawada is one of the largest Intermediate and entrance-coaching centres in the country, and books move on this lane constantly in both directions. Question banks, printed test series, reference sets bought cheaper in Bengaluru, and material a student left behind when they came here. Books are dense — a small carton hits its weight fast, so a 10 kg book parcel is usually billed on actual weight rather than volumetric.
Wholesale and trade samples for the Krishna market
Vijayawada is the commercial clearing house for coastal Andhra, and its wholesale trade buys from Bengaluru: hardware, electricals, packaging, plastics, garment lots and shop fittings. Common Bengaluru → Vijayawada misjudgements
- Avakaya and gongura pachadi — the single most attempted food refusal on this lane. Home-made mango pickle sits in oil, which makes it a liquid, and the jar is glass. Dry karam podi, sealed and double-bagged, is fine. The wet pickle is not, however carefully your mother packed it.
- Fresh chilli, fresh mango and fruit of any kind — the powder ships, the produce does not. Perishables have no temperature-controlled leg on this network and a delayed carton becomes a leaking one that damages every parcel around it.
- Loose power banks and spare lithium cells — routine from a tech city. A battery sealed inside a laptop or phone is accepted on surface; a bare cell, a spare pack or anything above 100 Wh on the air leg is not. Say so at booking and we route it correctly instead of it being pulled at sortation.
- Ghee, gingelly oil and home-made sweets in syrup — sent to family at Sankranti more than at any other time of year. Dry sweets survive the trip and are allowed. Anything you can pour is not, factory-sealed or otherwise.
- Bottled filter-coffee decoction — the powder is unrestricted, the brewed liquid is a liquid. People genuinely try this, and it genuinely leaks.

Everything on the Mangalagiri, Tadepalli and Amaravati capital-region side of the river is 522xxx, which is administratively Guntur district, and the Krishna-district towns around the city run on 521xxx. All three are delivered, and on express they usually land on the same day the city does. What causes trouble is booking to "Vijayawada" with no pin at all, because the address then has to be resolved at the destination hub and that costs a day. Can I send Guntur chilli powder and home-made pickle to family in Vijayawada?
The powder yes, the pickle no. Ground chilli, sambar powder, karam podi and any dry masala travel fine as long as they are in sealed pouches, double-bagged, and packed away from anything they could stain if a seam splits. Avakaya, gongura pachadi and any pickle standing in oil are refused — the oil makes it a liquid and the glass jar makes it a breakage claim waiting to happen. If it is a factory-sealed, commercially packed jar with a tax invoice, ask us before you pack, because sealed retail units are sometimes accepted on surface routing. Home-made, never.
How early should I book so a parcel reaches Vijayawada before Sankranti?
Book by the first week of January and use surface; leave it to the second week and you will be paying express for a transit you could have had for ₹120/kg. Sankranti is the biggest seasonal spike on every Bengaluru–Andhra lane — bigger than Diwali by a wide margin — and the pressure is not on the line-haul, it is on the last mile in Vijayawada, where delivery staff are working through several times the normal parcel count and are also taking their own festival leave. The 2–3 day surface transit generally still holds in that window, but the day of the week it lands on becomes much less predictable, so build in slack rather than betting on it.
