Between late June and September the plateau takes heavy rain, and the last stretch into the outlying blocks around Ranchi can slow by a day when it is falling hard.

The backbone of this lane. Bengaluru employs a large Jharkhandi workforce — hotel and restaurant staff, cabin and retail crews, security teams, nurses and a steady layer of IT and BPO employees — and a great deal of what they earn goes home as goods rather than only as money. Clothes for parents and siblings, a phone or a tablet bought here, school shoes, a pressure cooker, a mixer. Almost all of it is booked on surface and almost all of it is collected from the Kammanahalli, Hennur and Frazer Town belt where a lot of that community actually lives.
Sarhul and Chhath sendings
Two clear seasonal peaks rather than one. Sarhul in spring is the Jharkhandi new year and moves new clothes and gifts home for people who cannot travel for it; Chhath in October or November is by far the bigger of the two and the volume starts climbing a fortnight ahead. If you are shipping for either, treat the festival date as a hard wall and put the parcel on the road at least a week before it — the network into Jharkhand is carrying everyone else's festival parcel at the same time.
Student kit for the Ranchi campuses
Ranchi has a real student population — BIT Mesra, IIM Ranchi, the medical and central university intakes — and a lot of it overlaps with Bengaluru, either because a sibling studies here or because a graduate has already moved down for a job. Books, printed notes, a laptop going home for the holidays, bedding at the start of a term, a trunk of clothes at the end of one. Books are dense and cheap by weight, so surface is nearly always the right call on this category.
Spares and instruments for the Dhurwa belt
Ranchi's heavy-engineering base at Dhurwa, and the vendor workshops that grew up around it, buy a lot from Bengaluru's precision-engineering and instrumentation suppliers. Bearings, sensors, control cards, calibration instruments, machined replacement parts. Declare the value and send the invoice with the consignment — an industrial address at the far end will usually not accept a parcel without paperwork, and the security gate will hold it until someone produces one.
Medicines and hospital follow-up parcels
A less obvious flow but a consistent one. Families from Jharkhand travel to Bengaluru for treatment, and once they go home the follow-up continues by courier — repeat prescriptions in their original manufacturer packaging, reports, imaging discs, discharge summaries needed for an insurance claim. Send medicines in the strip and box they came in with a copy of the prescription inside the parcel, and if the course is time-critical book express and tell us so at the time of pickup.
Phones, tablets and small electronics
Bengaluru is where the family member with a job buys the gadget, and Ranchi is where it is needed. Handsets, tablets, smart watches, earbuds, a monitor for a home-study setup, occasionally a small printer. These need the original retail box inside an outer carton with a collar of air around it, an invoice inside, and the recipient's mobile number on the AWB. A sealed retail device with its battery installed is fine; anything loose in the carton alongside it is a separate question — read the list below.

Common Bengaluru → Ranchi misjudgements
- Ghee and cold-pressed oils tucked into a food parcel — the most frequent single refusal on this lane. A tin of ghee, a bottle of cold-pressed coconut or groundnut oil, sesame oil for the kitchen at home. It counts as a liquid whatever the seal says, and after four days of road vibration it does not stay in the tin. Dry provisions in the same carton are fine; take the tin out.
- Vapes, e-cigarettes and refill pods — these are prohibited outright in India, so this is not a courier policy we can bend. They are attempted surprisingly often on parcels going home from Bengaluru, usually mixed in with clothes, and they get the whole consignment pulled rather than just the item.
- Live plants, saplings and cuttings in wet soil — Bengaluru's nurseries are a genuine reason people ship north, and it does not work on a shared line-haul. Soil leaks, the plant is dead by day three, and there is no cover for it. Seeds and dry bulbs in sealed packets are a different matter and travel without trouble.
- Aerosol deodorant and dry shampoo hidden in a clothes carton — pressurised cans are refused on both the surface and the air leg, and a can that bursts inside a carton of new festival clothes ruins the parcel it was hiding in. Roll-ons and solid sticks are fine.
- Gas lighters and matchboxes packed with a kitchen kit — very common in relocation and move-out cartons. The cooker, the vessels and the utensils all ship; the lighter, the matches and the half-used mosquito coil packet do not.

The delivery proof comes back to you inside an hour of the handover. Two things are worth knowing about the Ranchi end before you book. First, addressing in the older parts of the city leans on landmarks rather than street numbers — a house described by the lane behind a school or a temple is normal there, and it works, but only if the recipient's mobile number is on the AWB so the rider can call from the last turn he is sure of. Second, the newer apartment stock along Kanke Road and Bariatu runs proper gate security, and a rider with no number to ring is sent away by the guard rather than let up, which turns into a re-attempt the next working day.

Do you deliver to BIT Mesra and other campus addresses outside Ranchi city?
Yes, and it is worth understanding how it is priced and timed. Ranchi city sits in the 834xxx pin family and comes off the local delivery run without any complication. Mesra and several of the outlying blocks are not in that family — they fall under a neighbouring pin series and a different delivery office, which normally means one extra working day and occasionally a rate difference. Nothing about that is a problem as long as you tell us in advance. Give us the pin code written on the hostel or department address rather than just the institute's name, add the recipient's mobile number, and put a room or hostel block number on the label. Campus mailrooms hold parcels for collection rather than delivering them to a room, so the student needs to know the AWB — forward it to them the moment we send it to you.
When should I post a Chhath parcel from Bengaluru so it reaches Ranchi in time?
Book it at least a week before the first day of the festival if you are going by surface, and ten days if the parcel matters. The lane is 4–5 working days in ordinary conditions, but the fortnight before Chhath is not ordinary conditions — the entire network into Bihar and Jharkhand is carrying its heaviest volume of the year, and the constraint is not the trunk line-haul but the last mile, which slows once every household on the street is expecting something. If you have left it late, pay for express and take the 2–3 day band rather than hoping the road leg behaves. And note that Chhath itself effectively pauses local delivery for a couple of days, so a parcel that arrives at the Ranchi end during the festival will sit safely at the hub until the riders are back out.
Can I courier prescription medicines from Bangalore to a patient in Ranchi?
Yes, and we handle this regularly for families who came to Bengaluru for treatment and went home afterwards. The rules are simple. Send the medicine in the manufacturer's original strip and carton — not decanted into a pill box — and put a photocopy of the prescription inside the parcel where it can be seen if the consignment is opened.
