Rajahmundry is the working base for the onshore oil-and-gas activity on the Godavari side of the KG basin, and the service companies around it buy calibration and measurement equipment from Bengaluru — pressure and flow transmitters, gas detection heads, data loggers, control cards and hand-held analysers, plus the same instruments going back for annual calibration. Small, expensive, and normally express with the site engineer's name and mobile on the AWB rather than a company name alone.

There has been a paper industry on this stretch of the Godavari for generations, and the trade around it deals with Bengaluru constantly. Die-lines and structural mock-ups, printed proofs and colour targets, laminate and board samples, test reports and specification files. Flat, light, easy to damage — we ship these between stiffeners rather than loose in a carton, because a creased proof is a useless proof.

A very large share of this lane is quietly domestic. Rajahmundry is a city that Bengaluru's Telugu workforce comes from and returns to, and where a great many parents still live. Pension and insurance paperwork, property documents needing a physical signature, spectacles, hearing-aid parts, medical reports, a phone bought here and set up before it was sent. Common Bengaluru → Rajahmundry misjudgements
- Gas sample bottles, condensate samples and calibration gas cylinders — the refusal specific to the oilfield side of this lane. The instrument travels; the sample and the calibration gas never do. Even a small pressurised cylinder marked as a zero-air standard is compressed gas, and a hydrocarbon liquid sample is both flammable and a liquid. Ship those on a certified dangerous-goods movement instead.
- Live plants, cuttings, saplings and potting soil — asked about constantly because of the Kadiyam nurseries. Soil and rooted material carry moisture and pests, they are refused on a shared line-haul, and there is no plant-quarantine handling on a courier network. Empty pots, coir blocks, tools and paperwork are all fine.
- Aqua chemicals, formalin, pond disinfectants and antibiotic stock — hatcheries and farms genuinely ask us to move these. Every one of them is either a corrosive, a controlled substance or a hazardous liquid. The test meters, probes and dry calibration standards go without any trouble; the bottles do not.
- Godavari water in cans and bottles — carried away from the ghats by visiting families and then posted to relatives. However significant it is, it is water in a container, it is heavy, the cans split under stacking, and it is refused. So is any other holy or ritual liquid, including oil lamps that have not been emptied.
- Home-made sweets in syrup and wet pickles — the Godavari districts do these better than most places, which is exactly why people try. Dry sweets and sealed snacks travel fine. Anything sitting in syrup, ghee or oil leaks through a carton within a day in this climate and takes the neighbouring parcels with it.

The city sits on the eastern bank of the Godavari and the towns on the far bank — Kovvur and everything beyond it — are a different district on a different beat even though people describe them as being in Rajahmundry. Delta and lanka addresses out towards the river islands can be reached only on set days, and in flood season sometimes not at all. Write the full address with a landmark, add the pin code, and put a working mobile number on it; in this district that number is what turns a two-day transit into a two-day delivery.

Is Rajahmundry the same as Rajamahendravaram, and why does my Kakinada relative have a similar pin code?
Rajamahendravaram is the official name and Rajahmundry is the older one that most people still write and search — both are recognised across the network and neither will misroute anything. The pin code question is the one worth taking seriously. Rajahmundry and Kakinada both sit inside the 533xxx family, they are about fifty kilometres apart, and they are separate delivery hubs with separate beats. Every few weeks somebody books to "Rajahmundry" with a Kakinada pin on the docket, or writes a Rajahmundry address against a pin that belongs on the coast, and the consignment then has to be re-sorted at the destination end — which is exactly one wasted day. Do not rely on the city name to sort it out. Send us the full address with the correct pin code on WhatsApp before pickup and we will confirm which hub it belongs to.
Can I courier plants from the Kadiyam nurseries, or send saplings to someone there?
No, and it is the question we get asked most often on this lane, so it deserves a straight answer. Live plants, rooted cuttings, saplings and anything in potting soil are not accepted on a courier network. There is no ventilation, no temperature control and no plant-quarantine handling in a shared line-haul, a plant packed for two days in a sealed carton usually arrives dead, and moist soil is refused on its own account. Nurseries that ship at scale use specialist horticultural transport for exactly this reason, and the Kadiyam trade knows how to arrange it. What we can carry on the same relationship is everything around the plants — ceramic and fibre planters, coir blocks and grow bags, drip and irrigation fittings, plant tags, tools, catalogues and the order and payment paperwork. If you are buying from a Kadiyam nursery, let them move the plants their own way and use us for the rest.
Will the Godavari flood season delay a delivery, and how do I address a village on the delta side?
The line-haul is rarely the problem; the last mile can be. From July into September the Godavari runs high, and low-lying areas near the river and the lanka villages on the delta islands can be cut off or reachable only by boat for days at a stretch. Rajahmundry city itself keeps working through most of it, but a delivery to a village address in that window is genuinely weather-dependent, and no amount of paying for express changes that — express buys you a faster trip to the hub, not a road that is under water. For village and delta addresses, give us three things: the full address with the mandal name, a recognisable landmark such as a temple, school or panchayat office, and a mobile number for someone who is actually in the village. If it is flood season and the consignment matters, the safer approach is to send it to a relative in Rajahmundry town and let it be carried the last stretch by hand.
