Send a parcel from Bangalore to Pune. We pick up free.
About 840 kilometres up NH48 through Chitradurga, Belagavi, Kolhapur and Satara — 2–3 working days on DTDC surface, 1–2 by air express. Free pickup anywhere in Bengaluru at 5 kg and above, whether the parcel is coming from a flat in Whitefield, an office in Electronic City or a family home in JP Nagar.
Pickup across Bengaluru, NH48 north through the ghats, delivery across Pune and the industrial belt.
Pickup, Bengaluru.
Typically 60–90 minutes inside the ring. Whitefield and Electronic City Phase 2 need a two-hour window because of the ORR crawl; Koramangala, JP Nagar and the Hebbal side are usually faster than that. The rider carries tape, bubble wrap and a scale, weighs the parcel at your door and seals it in front of you so there is no argument about weight later.
Bengaluru sortation.
Into DTDC’s Bengaluru operation the same evening. Pune sits on the busy western trunk out of Bengaluru and is reached before the freight carries on to the coast, which is part of why the transit band on this lane is as tight as it is for 840 kilometres.
NH48 line-haul.
North through Chitradurga, Hubballi-Dharwad, Belagavi, Kolhapur and Satara, then the climb over the Khambatki ghat section into DTDC’s Pune hub. Surface is 2–3 working days; the air leg from Kempegowda brings it to 1–2. In heavy July and August rain the ghat stretch runs slower than the flat, which is the one predictable variable on this route.
Pune delivery.
Last-mile off the Pune hub across the city — Kothrud, Deccan, Camp, Viman Nagar, Hadapsar and the Hinjewadi and Kharadi IT corridors. Pimpri-Chinchwad and the Chakan and Talegaon industrial estates are all served, but they run on plant and gate hours rather than city hours; give us the estate and gate details when you book.
POD on WhatsApp.
Once the parcel is signed for, the proof of delivery comes back to your WhatsApp inside the hour — signature capture, or a stamped inward slip from a plant or hostel office.
Starting rates, Bangalore → Pune.
You pay on actual or volumetric weight, whichever is higher, plus the fuel surcharge in force when you book. GST is charged on top of that.
- Standard parcel (surface) from ₹120 / kg 2–3 working days. Min billable 5 kg.
- Express parcel (air) from ₹180 / kg 1–2 working days. Door delivery.
- Bulk consignment (35 kg+) from ₹120 / kg Min 35 kg. Surface routing.
Pickup is free across Bengaluru at 5 kg and above. Volumetric weight is (L × W × H cm) ÷ 5000 — the number that catches every parent shipping a student’s bedding and quilt, where the box is enormous and the contents weigh nothing. Once a consignment passes 35 kg it moves to the bulk band, which is where most hostel and relocation shipments should actually be booked.
Student care packages, engineering samples, and the Hinjewadi transfer.
Care packages for students
Pune has one of the densest student populations in the country, and a large share of it comes from families in Bengaluru and further south. This lane carries the consequence: bedding and quilts at the start of a term, winter wear in November, dry snacks and homemade podi, textbooks, a study lamp, a kettle, replacement chargers. Hostel and PG addresses in Kothrud, Erandwane and Viman Nagar all take deliveries at a warden’s or reception desk, so put the student’s room number and mobile on the AWB, and read the restricted list before you pack a survival kit.
Engineering samples and machine parts
Bengaluru’s precision and machining suppliers feed the automotive and engineering belt at Chakan, Talegaon and across Pimpri-Chinchwad. Prototype parts, machined components, jigs, fixtures, bearings and small assemblies. Dense and heavy — you will be billed on actual weight here rather than volume — and they need to be immobilised inside the box, because a heavy part that can slide will work its way through a carton wall on an 840-kilometre run.
IT hardware to Hinjewadi and Kharadi
The Bengaluru–Pune employee transfer is one of the most common internal moves in Indian technology, and equipment follows it constantly. Laptops on transfer, docking stations, monitors, test devices and asset-return kits moving between Bengaluru campuses and the offices at Hinjewadi and Kharadi. Tell us at booking that hardware is in the box — it changes both how we pack it and how we route it around the battery rules.
Relocation cartons
The domestic half of the same move. Kitchen kit, books, bedding, a chair, a monitor, the twenty kilograms that will not fit into an airline allowance. Almost always cheaper by surface than as excess baggage on the sector, and it arrives while you are still sorting out a flat. Number your cartons and give us a list — a numbered set is far easier to chase if one lands a day behind the others.
Vendor paperwork for auto OEMs and tier-1s
Signed purchase orders, RFQ responses, inspection and dimension reports, material certificates and drawing sets going from Bengaluru suppliers to procurement and quality desks in the Pune belt. These are usually deadline-bound, so they go express with the receiving department named on the AWB — a plant mailroom will not chase down an unnamed envelope.
Ganesh Chaturthi parcels
Pune’s biggest festival is a real seasonal driver on this route. From mid-August the family traffic climbs — new clothes, gifts to parents and in-laws, sweets and dry snacks going home before the festival week. Book it a clear week ahead of when you want it there, because the delivery end slows once the city’s festival traffic starts and no amount of paying for express fixes a road that is closed.
A short, real list.
Refused by DTDC and by every network we hand to. The second block is what actually gets pulled on this lane, where half the senders are parents packing for a hostel and the other half are engineers packing for a plant:
Banned outright
- Liquids, oils and gels in any quantity
- Aerosols, deodorant sprays and pressurised cans
- Gas cartridges, butane canisters and camping fuel
- Matches, lighters and lighter refills
- Flammable solvents, thinners and adhesives
- Currency notes, bullion and precious stones
Common Bengaluru → Pune misjudgements
- Portable gas stoves, butane canisters and lighter refills — the classic hostel survival kit, and the most frequent refusal on this route. Compressed flammable gas cannot travel on a courier network at all. The stove body alone is acceptable if the canister is genuinely not in the box; send the fuel money instead and let them buy it locally.
- Deodorant sprays, dry shampoo and aerosol cleaners — packed into care packages without a second thought because they seem harmless. They are pressurised aerosols and they come out at sortation, usually after the carton has already been opened and retaped.
- E-cigarettes, vapes and pods — attempted more often than you would think on a student lane. They are prohibited for sale and transport in India, and they are refused at booking regardless of who they are for.
- Cutting oil, machining coolant and paint samples — the engineering half of the same problem. Suppliers send a fluid sample with a component so the plant can validate the finish. The component ships; the fluid is a restricted liquid and does not, sealed drum or squeeze bottle alike.
- Homemade curd rice, wet chutney and ghee in a steel dabba — the food a parent most wants to send and the food least able to survive three days in a truck. Dry podi, sealed snacks and packaged sweets are all fine. Anything wet, oily or refrigerated is not.
AWB on WhatsApp. Track on dtdc.in. POD when it lands.
We send the AWB number to your WhatsApp the moment the parcel is booked into DTDC, and you can check it at dtdc.in whenever you want to know where it is. POD follows within the hour of delivery. The Pune-specific thing to plan around is gate access. The Hinjewadi IT park runs its buildings on security-controlled entries and the Hinjewadi–Wakad approach is one of the most congested stretches in the city, so riders work that corridor in windows and the recipient generally has to come down to the gate. The Chakan, Talegaon and Pimpri-Chinchwad industrial estates are stricter still — most require a gate pass raised in advance against a named receiver and close their inward-material window well before the end of the working day. Give us the receiving person, their mobile and the gate number, and tell them it is coming.
Specific to Bangalore → Pune.
My child is in a Pune hostel — what can I actually send in a care package?
More than you think, but less than most parents pack. Everything dry goes: sealed snacks, podi and dry chutney powder, packaged sweets, biscuits, bedding and quilts, towels, winter wear, books, stationery, a study lamp, a kettle, chargers and cables. What does not go is the half of the box people assume is harmless — deodorant and body sprays, dry shampoo, any aerosol at all, gas lighters and refills, a portable stove with its canister, and homemade food that is wet, oily or needs a fridge. Curd rice and ghee in a steel dabba is the one we turn away most often, and it is always the one that mattered most. Pack the dry food in sealed pouches inside a separate polybag so a burst packet does not reach the clothes, put the room number and the student’s mobile on the AWB, and check whether the hostel takes deliveries at a reception desk — most do, and most will not accept a parcel with no phone number on it.
How does delivery into the Hinjewadi IT park actually work?
Building by building, through security, and it needs the recipient to be reachable. The Hinjewadi phases are gated campuses: the rider is not walking to a desk on the fourth floor, so the parcel is either handed at a reception or facilities point or the recipient comes down to the gate for it. That makes a working mobile number on the AWB the single most important field on the booking. Two more things worth knowing. The Hinjewadi–Wakad approach road is heavily congested at peak hours, so riders cover that corridor in set windows rather than on demand, and a delivery promised for four in the afternoon may realistically close later. And weekend delivery into an office park is unreliable — if it has to be in someone’s hands on a Saturday, send it to their home address instead. Express gets it to Pune in 1–2 working days; getting it through a corporate gate is a separate problem and it is worth planning for.
Are Pimpri-Chinchwad, Chakan and Talegaon delivered on the same schedule as Pune city?
They are all served on this lane, but they run on plant hours, not city hours, and that is the difference that catches suppliers out. Industrial addresses in those estates typically accept inward material only within a fixed window during the working day, and many require a gate pass raised in advance against a named receiver and a purchase order or delivery challan number. A rider who reaches the gate after that window closes is turned away and the parcel comes back for the next working day — the transit was fine, the access was not. So when you book, give us three things: the receiving department or person, a mobile that will actually be answered, and the PO or challan reference the security desk will ask for. Then tell your contact at the plant that a consignment is on its way. Done that way, the industrial belt is no slower than the city; done without it, you lose a day at the last hundred metres.
Tell us the rough weight. We’ll come back in minutes.
A real person at your Bengaluru door, in about an hour.
Message the pickup address on WhatsApp or call the desk and tell us what is going. We are open 24×7 in Bengaluru — parents packing a hostel box at midnight and engineers dispatching a sample after a late shift both get the same rider, at the same rate.
