Two things about Patiala's last mile are worth knowing before you book rather than after. The first is that a very large proportion of deliveries here go to an institution rather than to a person — a university department, a hostel warden's office, a college store, a government branch, a hospital record room — and institutional receiving runs on its own clock. With that, the parcel is received at the campus receiving point and signed for like any institutional delivery. Two practical cautions. Camps run to fixed dates, so if the athlete leaves before a surface consignment lands you have paid to send a box to a place they no longer are — count backwards from their departure date and book express if the margin is under a week. My parcel to a Patiala government office keeps coming back marked undelivered. Why?
Almost always because it reached the right building at the wrong hour, or because it was addressed to an office rather than to a person.
