Send a parcel from Bangalore to Nagpur. We pick up free.
Roughly 1,050 kilometres in one continuous run up NH44 through Hyderabad and Adilabad to the geographic centre of the country. Surface freight makes it in 2–3 working days, air express in 1–2 — a tight band for the distance, and it holds because this corridor never runs empty. Collection from your Bengaluru address costs nothing from 5 kg upward.
Pickup across Bengaluru, one straight NH44 run north, delivery across the 440xxx belt.
Pickup, Bengaluru.
Sixty to ninety minutes across the city. The north-east belt is the quickest catchment on this lane — Frazer Town, Cooke Town, Kammanahalli, Hennur and RT Nagar — which suits it, because that is the side the northbound trunk leaves from and where a good share of the city's central-India and Marathi-speaking households happen to be. Tape, wrap and a weighing scale come with the rider.
Bengaluru sortation.
Handed into DTDC's Bengaluru operation the same evening it is collected. Nagpur sits on the busiest northbound trunk out of the city and is a natural stop rather than an outlying spur, so there is no waiting for a load to build the way there is on a thinner lane.
NH44 line-haul.
Chikkaballapur, Anantapur, Kurnool and Hyderabad, then on north through Nirmal and Adilabad and across the Maharashtra line into Nagpur. It is one road the whole way with no awkward transhipment, which is exactly why a thousand-kilometre run comes in at 2–3 working days. Air out of Kempegowda brings it to 1–2.
Nagpur delivery.
Last-mile off the Nagpur hub across the 440xxx series — Sitabuldi and Sadar in the centre, Dharampeth and Civil Lines, Wardhaman Nagar on the east, Manish Nagar and Besa on the southern expansion. The cargo and SEZ development at Mihan sits south of the city, and the Butibori and Hingna industrial estates further out again; all three run on gate hours, not city hours. Kamptee, Katol and Wardha are separate beats.
POD on WhatsApp.
The proof of delivery — signature image or a stamped inward slip — is forwarded to you on WhatsApp the same hour the parcel is handed over.
Starting rates, Bangalore → Nagpur.
Billed on actual or volumetric weight, whichever is greater, plus the fuel surcharge in force when you book. GST is charged separately.
- Standard parcel (surface) from ₹120 / kg 2–3 working days. Min billable 5 kg.
- Express parcel (air) from ₹180 / kg 1–2 working days. Door delivery.
- Bulk consignment (35 kg+) from ₹120 / kg Min 35 kg. Surface routing.
Pickup is free from any address in the city once the consignment hits 5 kg. Volumetric weight is (L × W × H cm) ÷ 5000 — valves, castings and pump spares almost always bill on the weighed number, while printed material, empty packaging and light assemblies bill on the measured one. The variable to plan around here is not rain but heat: through April, May and early June this is one of the hottest cities in the country, and anything wax-based, chocolate-based or ghee-based should either travel express or wait for October.
Cargo-hub consolidation, coal and power-sector spares, court and legislature paperwork, and everything orange except the orange.
Stock and consolidation for the central cargo hub
Nagpur's position at the middle of the country is not a slogan, it is the reason the multi-modal cargo and SEZ development at Mihan exists and why so much national fulfilment is warehoused here. Sellers and D2C brands out of Bengaluru replenish stock into Nagpur warehouses and third-party fulfilment addresses continuously, and onward distribution to central and northern India is faster from there than from the coasts. Recurring dispatch is cheaper on a contract rate sheet than booked ad hoc, and we can hold a fixed weekly collection slot.
Coal, power and mining-sector spares and documents
Nagpur is the administrative centre of a coalfield and sits beside a cluster of thermal generating stations, which makes it a buying city for industrial hardware. Instrumentation, valves, gaskets, seals, bearings, belt fasteners and control spares travel up from Bengaluru's engineering suppliers, along with the tender documents, drawings and inspection reports that go with them. Dense consignments billed on actual weight, delivered into a stores window rather than to a desk.
Court and legislature paperwork
Nagpur has a bench of the Bombay High Court and hosts the state legislature's winter sitting, which gives the city a concentrated legal and administrative calendar that most cities its size do not have. Case papers, affidavits, certified copies, vakalatnamas, tender submissions and departmental files move on this lane against dates that do not move. Always express, always with a named advocate, clerk or department on the AWB, and always with the AWB number confirmed to you in writing.
Orange-trade goods that are not oranges
The city is synonymous with santra, and it is also a sweets-manufacturing centre in its own right, so there is real two-way trade in what the fruit becomes rather than the fruit itself. Sealed orange barfi and candy, dry sweets, packaged namkeen, gift boxes before a festival, and the printed cartons and labels those get packed into. All of it ships fine when it is sealed and dry. The fresh fruit does not ship at all — see the list below, because this is the misunderstanding this lane is built on.
Agri-trade samples and packaging for the Vidarbha belt
The districts around the city are cotton and soybean country and the trade is run out of Nagpur. What moves by courier is the paper and hardware around the crop — graded lint and grain sample packets, printed and laminated bags, stitching and sealing machine spares, moisture meters, weighbridge and scale parts sourced from Bengaluru. Unglamorous, repeat, weight-based consignments that suit surface routing.
Family parcels and festival shipments
Nagpur and the Vidarbha districts send a steady stream of engineering and medical graduates to Bengaluru, and the parcels head back the other way all year. Clothes for a function, medicines in original prescription packaging with a copy of the prescription, documents that need a signature at home, gifts before Diwali and before the large October gathering at Deekshabhoomi. Book a clear week ahead of any of those dates rather than during the week itself.
A short, real list.
The first card is the standing network prohibition list. The second is what this particular lane throws up, and two of the five are things people are genuinely surprised by:
Banned outright
- Liquids in any form, factory-sealed bottles included
- Aerosols, pressurised cans and gas cartridges
- Cosmetics, nail polish and fragrance samples
- Matches, lighters and flammable solids
- Currency notes, bullion and bearer instruments
- Explosives, ammunition and blasting accessories
The Nagpur-specific list
- Fresh Nagpur oranges, mosambi and any farm produce — asked about on this lane more than on any other we run, in both directions. Fresh fruit is perishable cargo and is refused outright: there is no cold-chain option on a parcel network, and a 2–3 day surface run in a closed truck would ruin a crate of santra anyway. The candy, the barfi and the dry sweets made from it all travel perfectly well.
- Chocolate, ghee-based sweets, candles and wax goods between April and June — not a prohibition, a warning we would rather give before you pay for it. Vidarbha summers run brutally hot, the parcel spends hours in a closed vehicle, and a box of chocolates arrives as a single fused block. Send those in the cooler months, or book express so the exposure is a day instead of three.
- Pesticides, herbicides and seed-treatment powders — a cotton and soybean belt attracts these, and every one of them is an excluded chemical consignment regardless of how small the packet is or whether it is in retail packaging. The sprayers, nozzles and spares are fine; the chemicals are not.
- Cotton seed, soybean seed and any sowing material — live seed sits with plants and soil on the excluded list, and it is also a regulated trade in its own right. Do not put a sample sachet inside a carton of something else, which is how these usually travel.
- Ghee, til oil and tup packed alongside a sweets consignment — the sealed dry sweets are fine and go up this lane constantly. The tin of ghee somebody adds to the same carton is a liquid, and when it is found the whole box is held rather than just the tin.
AWB on WhatsApp. Track on dtdc.in. POD when it lands.
The AWB reaches you on WhatsApp as soon as the consignment is booked into DTDC, you can follow it yourself at dtdc.in, and the POD image comes back within the hour of delivery. Two Nagpur specifics. Anything going to Mihan, Butibori or Hingna is an industrial delivery, not a city one: give us the plot number, the unit's registered name and the time the gate stops accepting inward material, because those windows shut well before the working day does. And for a delivery inside the old city — Itwari, Mahal, Gandhibagh and the market lanes around them — a landmark plus a mobile number is worth more than a full postal address, since the lanes there are narrow, one-way in stretches, and effectively closed to a vehicle on a busy trading morning.
Specific to Bangalore → Nagpur.
Can I courier Nagpur oranges to Bangalore, or send fresh fruit up to Nagpur?
No — fresh fruit is refused on this lane and on every other, and it is worth saying clearly because santra is the first thing anyone thinks of when they think of this city. Perishables are excluded from the network entirely. There is no refrigerated option on a parcel service, the consignment travels in an ambient-temperature vehicle for two to three days on surface, and a crate of oranges would arrive crushed and fermenting even if the rules allowed it. What does travel, and travels well, is everything the fruit gets turned into: sealed orange barfi and candy, dried and packaged sweets, gift boxes, preserves in commercially sealed retail packaging where the pack is not a bottle of liquid. If you want fruit moved in volume, that is a refrigerated transport contract with a produce carrier, not a courier booking.
It hits 45°C in Nagpur in May. Does that change what I should send or how?
It genuinely does, and almost nobody asks until after something has been ruined. The line-haul is fine — heat does not slow a truck — but the parcel sits in an enclosed vehicle and in a sortation shed for most of two or three days, and through April, May and early June the ambient temperature here is among the highest anywhere in India. Chocolate, ghee-based sweets, candles, wax and gel products, some cosmetics and adhesives, and anything with a low melting point will not survive that. Three practical answers: shift the shipment to the cooler months where you can; book express when you cannot, because one day of exposure is survivable where three is not; and for electronics or sealed instruments, ask us to add an inner liner and avoid a thin single-wall box, which conducts heat straight through. If you are unsure whether something will hold up, describe it on WhatsApp before you pack it and we will tell you honestly.
I need documents at the Nagpur bench for a hearing date. What is realistic?
Express is 1–2 working days from Bengaluru, so a set collected in the afternoon and booked before the evening cut-off normally reaches a city address the next working day — which is enough for most hearing dates if you are not leaving it to the final morning. Do four things and it holds. Book express, not surface, because 2–3 days with no slack is a gamble against a date that will not move. Call us rather than using the form, so a rider is dispatched immediately. Put the advocate's or clerk's name and a working mobile on the AWB, because chambers and registry offices do not accept envelopes addressed to a building. And ask us for the AWB number on WhatsApp in writing, so you have a dated dispatch record if the delay ever has to be explained to somebody. Court holidays and the winter legislature sitting both congest the central part of the city, so build in a day around those weeks.
Tell us the rough weight. We'll come back in minutes.
Other lanes from Bangalore
A real person at your Bengaluru door, in about an hour.
WhatsApp the pickup address and a rough weight, or call if there is a date attached to the consignment. The Bengaluru desk is open 24×7 — an early-morning collection before the heat of the day is a normal request here, not a favour.
