Peenya to Panki, Dada Nagar and Fazalganj is a real working lane. Bearings, bushes, fasteners, jigs, gauges, pump and compressor spares, a replacement die going for correction — small, heavy, urgent, and usually holding up a line at one end or the other. We double-wall the carton, pad the corners and mark the weight on the outside, and if the part carries a machining oil film we ask you to wipe it and wrap it in VCI or plain poly before it goes in, because oil seepage onto the outer carton gets a consignment pulled.
Finished leather goods, in both directions
Kanpur is India's leather city and Bengaluru is one of its retail markets, so bags, belts, wallets, jackets, footwear uppers and saddlery move constantly on this pair of lanes. Finished, dry, dressed leather ships without difficulty. What does not ship is anything upstream of finishing — that distinction is spelled out below, and it is the one thing worth reading before you book a leather consignment.

Kanpur's mills and garment units still pull swatches, trims, buttons, zips, thread cards and lab-dip sets from Bengaluru suppliers, and they come back the other way as approved samples and rejected lots. Light, flat, low-value cargo that is best sent in a rigid flat carton rather than a poly bag — a sample envelope that arrives creased has effectively arrived useless.

Where Bengaluru → Kanpur bookings go wrong
- Wet-blue and semi-processed hides — finished leather goods ship perfectly well; hides that are still wet, salted or chrome-treated do not. They are wet, they are heavy, they leak, and they will be refused at booking. If your consignment is skins rather than product, it needs a freight forwarder and a proper hazardous or wet-cargo consignment note, not a parcel courier.
- Tanning and finishing chemicals — chrome salts, sodium sulphide, syntans, fatliquors, dyes and finishing solvents are all prohibited on any air or surface courier network. This is the single most common commercial refusal on this lane and it is a legal restriction, not a company preference. Ask your supplier to move them on a chemical-approved carrier.
- Shoe adhesives, contact cement and cleaning solvents — a tin of adhesive tucked into a carton of uppers is enough to have the whole consignment held. Send the components; buy the adhesive locally.
- Lab chemicals and reagent bottles for campus projects — students and project teams ask about this every semester. Nothing in a reagent bottle can be booked, sealed or otherwise, and the same applies to gas cartridges for a lab setup. Instruments, boards and mechanical parts are fine.
- Machine parts still wet with oil or grease — not a prohibited item as such, but a rejected one in practice. Degrease the part, wrap it, and put an absorbent sheet under it in the carton; a box with an oil ring showing through gets pulled out of the load at sortation.

Kanpur is 80 km nearer than Lucknow. Why is it quoted the same 4–5 days?
Because transit is set by the movement schedule, not by the odometer. Both consignments ride the same trunk to Jhansi and then the same eastward leg across the Doab, and Kanpur sits on that line about eighty kilometres before Lucknow. Eighty kilometres does not create a separate day of line-haul; what creates a day is missing a departure or a sortation cut-off. So both cities land in the 4–5 working day surface band and the 2–3 day express band, and the honest answer is that a Kanpur parcel often arrives at the earlier end of that band while a Lucknow one arrives at the later end — but we will not quote you a number we cannot hold. If you are shipping to both cities the same week, book them together and we will tell you which one is likely to be signed for first.
Can I ship leather to Kanpur, and where exactly is the line drawn?
The line is finishing. Finished leather goods — bags, belts, wallets, jackets, shoes, uppers, cut components, dressed hides that are dry and dyed — are ordinary cargo and we book them every week in both directions. Anything upstream of that is not: wet-blue, salted or raw hides are wet, heavy, odorous and refused at booking, and every tanning input — chrome salts, sodium sulphide, syntans, fatliquors, finishing solvents and dyes — is a prohibited chemical on any courier network, air or surface. There is no packing that changes either answer. If your consignment is genuinely hides or chemicals, use a freight forwarder set up for wet or hazardous cargo. For finished goods, tell us the carton dimensions when you book — shoe boxes and bags are bulky and light, so they usually bill volumetric rather than actual, and it is better to know that before pickup than at invoicing.
I need to send to both Kanpur and Lucknow. Can one pickup cover both?
Yes, and it is a common enough pattern on this route that we plan for it. One rider, one visit to your Bengaluru address, two separate consignments with two separate AWB numbers — they have to be booked separately because they are different destination pin codes and each needs its own barcode and its own proof of delivery. What you save is the collection, not the freight: each consignment is weighed and priced on its own, and the 5 kg free-pickup threshold is assessed on the visit rather than on each box, so a 6 kg carton and a 3 kg carton collected together still qualify. Label the two clearly at your end and keep the contents separate — do not put Lucknow items in the Kanpur box intending someone to carry them across.
