Send a parcel from Bangalore to Ahmedabad. We pick up free.
About 1,490 kilometres up the western trunk through Pune, Mumbai and Vadodara — 4–5 working days on DTDC surface, 2–3 by air express. Pickup is free anywhere in Bengaluru at 5 kg and above, and the desk that answers your call in HSR Layout is staffed 24×7.
Pickup across Bengaluru, western trunk line-haul, delivery across Ahmedabad's 380xxx pin belt.
Pickup, Bengaluru.
Usually within 60–90 minutes of your call. West Bengaluru — Rajajinagar, Malleshwaram, Vijayanagar, Basavanagudi — is our quickest catchment on this lane, because that is where most Gujarati trading households and their shops sit. We arrive with tape, bubble wrap and a luggage scale, and the carton is weighed and sealed in front of you.
Bengaluru sortation.
Same-evening handover into DTDC's Bengaluru facility. Book before the early evening and your parcel makes that night's departure rather than waiting a full day for the next one — on a 4–5 day lane, that single evening is the difference between a Thursday and a Friday delivery.
Western trunk line-haul.
Up NH48 through Hubballi and Pune, across the Mumbai belt, then Surat and Vadodara into Gujarat. Surface takes 4–5 working days on this run. Air express out of Kempegowda cuts it to 2–3 and skips the Mumbai road bottleneck entirely, which is the leg that slips in heavy monsoon weeks.
Ahmedabad delivery.
Last-mile off the Ahmedabad hub across the 380xxx series. Newer western addresses — SG Highway, Prahlad Nagar, Bodakdev, Bopal, Thaltej — are straightforward. The old walled city east of the river is not: see the pol note in the FAQ. Gandhinagar and GIFT City are a separate 382xxx series and a separate lane.
POD on WhatsApp.
When the parcel is signed for, we forward the proof of delivery — signature image or stamped slip — to you on WhatsApp within the hour, so you are not left refreshing a tracking page.
Starting rates, Bangalore → Ahmedabad.
What you finally pay depends on actual or volumetric weight, whichever is greater, plus the fuel surcharge applicable on your booking date. GST is extra.
- Standard parcel (surface) from ₹120 / kg 4–5 working days. Min billable 5 kg.
- Express parcel (air) from ₹180 / kg 2–3 working days. Door delivery.
- Bulk consignment (35 kg+) from ₹120 / kg Min 35 kg. Surface routing.
Pickup is free anywhere in Bengaluru on this lane for parcels of 5 kg and above. Volumetric formula: (L × W × H cm) ÷ 5000. Garment consignments catch people out here — a carton of chaniya cholis or kurtas is bulky and light, and you are billed on the box, not the bathroom scale. Gujarat's trade calendar matters too: through the Diwali–Labh Pancham break, market and office addresses simply shut, and a surface parcel sits until they reopen.
Gujarati families sending home, textile and pharma trade, and Navratri outfits going up early.
Navratri outfits shipped ahead
Ahmedabad runs the longest garba season in the country, and Bengaluru's Gujarati households ship chaniya cholis, kediyus, jewellery sets and dupattas to family a fortnight before Aso Navratri rather than fighting airline baggage limits over a festival weekend. Book surface by early September and it lands with room to spare; leave it to the last week and you are paying express for a box of clothes.
Textile and garment trade samples
Bengaluru is an apparel-manufacturing city and Ahmedabad is a fabric city, so swatch books, trim cards, lab dips, sample garments and counter-samples move constantly between the two. Pickup from unit offices in Rajajinagar, Vijayanagar and Basavanagudi, GST invoice on request, and a recurring weekday slot if you ship weekly.
Pharma documentation and product literature
Ahmedabad's pharmaceutical belt buys and sells across the country, and the paperwork travels separately from the goods: batch documents, regulatory dossiers, packaging artwork proofs, tender submissions. These go express with the recipient's mobile on the AWB, because a dossier that misses a filing date is worth more than the difference in freight.
Family parcels to Gujarati households
Bengaluru's Gujarati community is old and concentrated on the west side of the city. What goes north is ordinary and constant — Diwali and Bhai Beej gifts, children's clothes, medicines with a prescription copy, framed photographs, things bought here because the range is better. Surface handles all of it comfortably.
Bengaluru-bought electronics and small appliances
Laptops, tablets, mixer grinders, air purifiers, gaming consoles — bought on a Bengaluru salary and sent to parents or siblings in Ahmedabad. We double-box anything with a screen and foam the corners. Declare the invoice value at booking so cover can be arranged before the parcel leaves your hands, not after.
Dry South Indian provisions, declared veg
Sambar and rasam podi, filter coffee powder, dry banana chips, sealed Mysore pak, packaged murukku. Many Ahmedabad households are strictly vegetarian or Jain and would rather know exactly what is in the carton, so we write the contents plainly on the AWB and mark food cartons as sealed dry vegetarian items. Anything wet or oily is a different question — see below.
A short, real list.
DTDC and every air-linked network refuse these outright. The second card is the set of things Bengaluru senders on the Ahmedabad lane genuinely try to book, usually in good faith:
Banned outright
- Any liquid — oils, syrups, gels, perfume, sanitiser
- Aerosols, pressurised cans and gas cartridges
- Cosmetics, nail polish and fragrance samples
- Matches, lighters and flammable solids
- Cash, gold and silver bullion
- Live plants, saplings and anything perishable
Where Bengaluru → Ahmedabad bookings go wrong
- Agarbatti, dhoop cones and camphor tablets — Bengaluru is one of India's incense-making centres and these get packed into festival hampers without a second thought. Paste-based agarbatti, dhoop and camphor are handled as flammable solids and cannot travel. Factory-sealed stick incense is sometimes accepted on surface; ask before you seal the box.
- Ayurvedic kashayam and arishtam bottles — the tablets, churnas and dry powders ship freely; the liquid decoctions and fermented arishtams do not, sealed pharmacy bottle or otherwise. This is a frequent one out of Bengaluru, where these are sold on every second high street.
- Cooking oil in gift hampers — cold-pressed coconut and gingelly oil bottles tucked in beside dry snacks. The snacks are fine. The bottle turns the whole carton into a liquid consignment and the whole carton gets refused.
- Wet chutney, gojju and pickle in oil — dry podi packets are accepted all day; the wet forms are not, glass jar or no glass jar. Factory-sealed jars with a tax invoice can sometimes go by surface, so check with us rather than guessing.
- Loose lithium cells and power banks — a battery sealed inside the appliance or laptop you are sending is fine on surface. A spare cell or a bare power bank riding along in the same carton is not, and it will hold up the entire consignment at the security screen.
AWB on WhatsApp. Track on dtdc.in. POD when it lands.
As soon as the parcel is booked into DTDC we send the AWB number to you on WhatsApp. Enter it at dtdc.in whenever you want a status, and we forward the signed POD within an hour of delivery. Two things make a real difference on Ahmedabad addresses. First, always include a working recipient mobile — riders in the walled-city pols and the Ring Road market blocks phone from the nearest landmark rather than hunting a house number. Second, if the delivery address is a shop or an office, tell us its weekly closing day. A market address that is shut on the delivery attempt is marked undelivered and goes back to the hub for a re-attempt the next working day.
Specific to Bangalore → Ahmedabad.
Does an Ahmedabad booking cover Gandhinagar and GIFT City?
No, and it is worth getting right before you book. Ahmedabad is the 380xxx pin series; Gandhinagar, including the GIFT City towers, sits in the 382xxx series and is quoted and routed as its own lane. Both are served and the transit is broadly similar, but the last-mile hub and the rate line are different, so a parcel booked as "Ahmedabad" for a Gandhinagar address can be re-rated on arrival. Give us the exact pin code and, for GIFT City, the tower and floor plus the recipient's mobile — those buildings run access control at the lobby and the rider will not get past it unannounced.
Can you deliver into the old city — Manek Chowk, Kalupur, Dhalgarwad?
Yes, and we do it regularly, but plan for how it actually works. The pols behind those markets are lanes a delivery van cannot enter, so the parcel comes in on two wheels and the rider calls from the nearest chowk to be met. Give us a landmark rather than only a house number, and a phone that will actually be answered during trading hours. The other thing to watch is the calendar: the cloth and utensil markets keep their own weekly off and shutter for an extended run around Diwali and Labh Pancham, and nothing gets delivered into a closed market.
I want to send Navratri clothes to Ahmedabad — surface or express, and what will it cost?
Surface, if you send them early. A carton of festival outfits is light and bulky, so the billed weight is almost always volumetric — (L × W × H in cm) ÷ 5000 — and a typical clothes carton measures out at 8 to 12 kg even when it weighs five. At ₹120/kg surface that is roughly ₹1,000–₹1,450 before fuel surcharge and 18% GST, arriving in 4–5 working days. Express at ₹180/kg on the same box lands in 2–3 days but costs half again as much for no benefit if you have a fortnight in hand. Send us the carton's outside dimensions on WhatsApp and we will tell you the billed weight before you commit.
Tell us the rough weight. We'll come back in minutes.
